I knew Dave as a man with a huge heart, who would give you the shirt off his own back if he saw your need. When my husband and I got married, Dave was our pastor and we lived in an apartment one block from the church. We left for our honeymoon not realizing our brand new light bill was never paid so the electricity was turned off while a friend from church was staying there. He found out and paid the bill before we got home. He gave me a job when I needed one and introduced me to the people who would hire me after that. He bought me, and many of us who were young and jobless, dinner more times than I can count.
We shared many Sunday dinners together, many meetings, many prayers. I’m grateful to God for the way he brought people together and for his generosity that was so clearly a gift from God. Praise God for the work that he did in Dave, and through Dave to the blessing of many young people and families. To David’s family, we are with you in your grief, may God bless you and keep you.

I am so incredibly grateful for Dave — he is the catalyst for me connecting to the Church in LA! I moved into the apartment complex next to the church he was pastoring, and he was so gracious and kind when I obliviously and embarrassingly blocked the drive way. Because of Dave, I was welcomed into a faith community with so much love. And, because of Dave, I met some of my dearest friends in this city, who are now like family to me. I am humbled and thank God for the way that He blessed my life through Dave.

I am so sad to hear! I had the privilege of being Dave’s RA, I think his freshman year, at SAGU. I have many great memories of that time in our lives. Super Dave never met a stranger! I’m praying for the family that the comfort of the Holy Spirit will bring you peace!

I was just devastated when I heard the news of David's passing. I enjoyed knowing David at school and loved the time I spent with your family in the late 80’s-early 90’s. Praying for the Lord to comfort your family.

The Hinkle family sends its deepest condolences upon the news of beloved David’s passing. Our comfort comes from knowing he rests in the arms of our savior and is reunited with so many of our other loved ones who have gone on before us. We pray the Holy Spirit will comfort the Smith family (whom we consider our family) during this difficult time. We send our love!
