David zip lining in Peru. A wild experience with a lot of great memories.

2012
The group on New Years! Such a fun night with amazing memories. (David took us out to brunch the next day- and I'll never forget how much he was making us laugh re-telling us about the night before.)
David was a solid guy. We met in 2010 when he started dating my sister and he was always down to do things with our family. When I look back on my memories with my family he is there at Christmas, New Years, Thanksgiving. I remember 2012 New Years, we had a small gathering at Maria's house to celebrate. Oh my goshhh I remember having so much fun! We played card games and then went out dancing in downtown Portland. David always brought the fun... He introduced me to so much good music (I still love Broken Bells, The Black Keys, & Muse,) he had a wicked sense of humor and was extremely chivalrous. He always made sure to make me feel included if I was the third wheel with him and Sabrina... Which was almost always! We all went to Peru in 2011 with my mom and to this day I still consider it to be one of the most physically grueling I've ever embarked upon. He was there, cheering us on, cracking jokes, taking pictures of my sister and I. He'd disappear for 5 minutes and come back with a 6 pack of Cusquena to split and snacks (I really appreciated that!) One time he left the group and made friends with the local kids who were playing soccer on a dirt field. I remember he was super confident, athletic, and I believe he had a lot of love in his heart for my sister and our entire family.

It's taken me a while to process that this is real, that he is no longer here, and that I have my own regrets of the things I never said. I've learned a lot throughout this process about forgiveness and this precious, fragile thing called life. I offer my most sincere and deepest condolences to David's entire family who have lost a son, brother, uncle, & friend far too soon. May he rest.

I worked with David at Beryl Apartments on Capitol Hill Seattle. He was a roving agent who had been holding down the fort at Beryl until I started working there. He was there on day one to show me the ropes and teach me all the things about the building. He was later promoted to be the assistant where we worked side by side. He was a private person so I never knew much of his personal life but from what I gather from working with him, he loved his family and soccer very much! He was a smooth dresser always in a suit and tie with shiny shoes! He loved my dogs especially little Zoe and had a special bond with her (she is a rescue with quite a few ailments.) We didn't remain very close after he left to work for another company but we did manage to meet up once before Covid-19 time started- one of the last times going out before being shut down. He was a good guy with a heart of gold for all our residents. He will be missed very much. I feel I can speak from the team where when I say that we're so deeply sorry for the family and friends loss. He was a true gem of a person.
I worked with David at Starfire for a few years, and started the day before he did. Me being in the middle of high school, I looked up to David who was a few years older and portrayed a pure love for soccer, all levels of it. I started coaching in the kids program and David gave me tips and pointers to help me get on my feet and build my confidence... This is who David will always be for me, putting others before himself and taking every coaching opportunity with enthusiasm whether or not the session was on a pitch. You could trust this guy had your best interests at heart, after all it was easy for him to bring you on his team.
Holly and I share our condolences to David's family and friends. For those who shared a field with him, know he is making comments about your game and touch on the ball.

Thank you for our time together David.
I am so sad to hear that David is gone. I only have known him for a brief amount of time, but no other person I’ve ever met will compare to him. He always had a way to put a smile on my face and was so incredibly kind and respectful. Your family is in my thoughts and my heart is broken thinking of the treasure that we’ve lost.
Larry, Pam and family I am so sorry for your loss David was a wonderful person. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Starfire brother!
Worked with him around 2006-2009

Never a time he was upset, always in a cheerful mood, he once told me soccer ⚽️ was what I was born to do, without it, I was only ball-less.

He told me I knew the laws of the game, & Complement me on how good of a ref I was.

I did get to see him, but when I did, I notice he was Awfully skinny for his age. I asked if he was doing well, he told me yeah but remember he waiting for a Uber so, I didn’t get to talk much but I knew that was last time I was going to speak to him.

What a true lad. I’m forever grateful for meeting him, my condolence to his family & friends!!!!!! My friend, 🤕🤒 long live king DAVID 👑
What a tragedy to hear this news!
I am forever saddened by David’s passing. I vividly remember the days when the kids , David, Anders and Brandon were at Fresno Pacific and Lighting up the turf with awesome soccer skills. I saw them every day as they lived with us! What a joy he was to have around. David was like my own Son! I write this with a painful lump in my throat, and tears in my eyes.
I will miss you my Boy, but will forever cherish our time together.
My thoughts and prayers are with your friends and family. You will be forever in my heart. I love you and miss you my Boy!!!
Larry, Pam, & Family,
Our most sincere condolences to you all.
I can't imagine the incredible pain of just trying to draw a breath after losing a child. My heart is truly broken for you.
My first memory of David is that of a small child, semi-patiently waiting for his Dad to conclude his business with the other members of the AYSA. As formal proceedings faded to friendly conversation, David was very comfortable visiting with the adults.
Soon, conversation gave way to wise cracks and clever joking. David proved himself equal to all comers. That was the point when he won my heart.
Although my children, Lindsay and Jeff, were more closely associated with Jeremy as a classmate, teammate, & friend; Jeff also knew David as a teammate who constantly pushed himself and took great joy in the game.
I don't pretend to know why one is spared and another is taken, I only know that we were blessed to share David during his time among us, and we will rejoice when it is our time to see him again.
God bless you,
Craig & Shirley Jewett
