David's obituary

David Wayne Pearson was born March 19, 1943 in Tuscaloosa, AL to his parents James David (Alvin) and Bettie. He later moved to Miami, FL where he would meet his wife, Judy, and get married in 1960. They would welcome three children together; Monica, Melissa and Erik.

David and Judy moved their family to Lakeland, FL in 1975 and later, in 1995, would open the family business, Tri County Termite and Pest Management. David quickly became known as ‘Dave the Bug Man’ in the community. David was a passionate businessman and truly cared about his customers and the success of his business. Over the years he employed several family members; his son and grandsons and he was very proud to share his craft with them.

David loved woodworking, westerns, firearms and football. David was skilled in carpentry and woodworking and in his retirement, after beating prostate cancer, was able to spend some time building items for family and friends. There was never a time you could stop to visit and wouldn’t be met with him sharing something he built, a woodworking jig he created or a new firearm he got to tinker with. His family room was filled with sounds of football all weekend long, but if you stopped by another time you’d likely be getting a history lesson on a western, but not before he consulted his ‘Google’ for more information.

David and Judy’s home always has an open door that welcomes friends, neighbors and family at any time. David loved being a friend, a neighbor, a husband, Dad and Papa/Grandad.

David was a caring, strong-willed man. He was a big jokester and the loudest belly-laugh in the room. He never met a stranger. He was devoted to his wife, Judy and the family they created over their 64 years together.

David passed away in his home on February 28, 2024. David will live on in our hearts forever.

David is preceded in death by his father Alvin Pearson and mother Bettie Watkins. He is survived by his loving wife Judy, children; Monica (Kenny), Melissa (Marty) and Erik (Christina), 13 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Services will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Lakeland on Monday, March 11 at 10:30am. Due to lent, the church will be unable to receive flowers. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the American Lung Association in David’s name.
