David J. Payne, 67, of New Carlisle, Indiana passed away on Tuesday, May 5, 2020 at Community Hospital South Indianapolis, Indiana. He was born on May 11, 1952 in South Bend, Indiana. Beloved father of Angel Curbox (Brent) of Indianapolis and Michelle Sanders of Greenwood. Pop pop to Nolan, Harper and Payton who were his heart and joy of his life.

He is survived by not only his daughters and grandchildren but also his true love Bonnie Payne, sister Vicki (Ed) Hand, brother Tim (Shelia) Ford, brother Troy (Amy) Singleton, niece Tara Hand, great nieces and nephews. David is preceded in death by his grandma Evelyn Sittig, mother Dehliamay Payne, nephew Mark Hand.

David had a love for everything car related. He spent his life working as a mechanic and body work expert. He enjoyed rebuilding and painting older sports cars to bring them back to their glory years. David’s favorite sport was the NHRA Funny Car races. David loved playing the lottery and scratch off tickets with hopes of winning the big money one day.

David’s family had a private farewell for him on May 11, 2020 at Indiana Funeral Care in Indianapolis. The family is holding a Celebration of Life Dinner and is inviting all of David’s family and friends to join them to celebrate his beautiful life on August 22, 2020. The Celebration will be 12:30 – 4:00 (ET) at the American Legion 486 E. Michigan St. New Carlisle, IN 46552
