David's obituary

Rev. David Michael Newbold went home to Jesus on February 23rd at age  61. David was born to Vernon and Cynthia Newbold on May 16,1960 in Flint, Michigan . As a young teen, David worked and lived in the back of a gas station while still going to school. He attended PSU and studied English. When he was 17, he started driving a milk truck, then went on to work elevators in Goodwell and Brian's Corner, construction work, volunteer firefighter, Walmart and Tyson. He was forced to give up the career he loved at Tyson due to his health. While he was employed at Tyson he also was a full-time pastor at True Light Fellowship in Holdenville, OK for 22 years. During the 22 years of pastoring David also founded Crossroads Ministries Food Pantry and Homeless Shelter for 6 years in Holdenville. David met the love of his life, Darla in 1978 in Texhoma. They married in 1980 and went on to have 4 kids and had over 200 foster children. In addition to being a dedicated and loving father and grandfather, he also loved studying the bible, helping others, spending time with family, riding his horse Spirit, painting, playing guitar and writing songs. Throughout his life, he held an unwavering faith in God, which he shared with those who surrounded him. David is survived by the love of his life Darla (John) Tooley of Madill, OK; Children: Terri (Waylon) Ford of Holdenville, OK; Michael (McCall) Newbold of Okemah, OK; Kyle Ford of Lawton, OK; Heather Files of Tulsa, OK; and D'Lynn Newbold of Madill, OK. Grandkids: Britton, Brodric, Brooklin, Braylon, Michael, Lori, Cameron, EverLeigh, Cameron, Landon, Malachi, Andrea, Desiree, Isaiah, Elijah, Eric and Jayla; Great Grandkids: Addison and Kane; Sisters Brenda (Gerald) Gore of Scott City, KS. and Joy Gaines of Indiana; Sister In Laws: Diana (Mike) Phillips of Pampa, TX and Darlene Lemmones of Texhoma, OK; Brother In Laws: Delvin (Mary) Lemmones of Elk City, OK; Darren (Michelle) Lemmones of Lawton, OK; Grand Dogs: Rhett'Leigh, Dutchess and Dobbie; and a host of many friends and family members.  David joins Father Vernon Newbold; Mother: Cynthia Hand; Brothers: Ernest Lee Newbold and Kenneth Eugene Newbold; Father in law: William Oliver Lemmones; Mother in law: Glenda Ruth Lemmones; Daughter Jana Marie; Granddaughter; Kylie Lysette Flores; Nephews: Adam David Banks and Seth Ryan Young; Great Nephew: Uriah Shermaine; Special Uncle/Mentor: Robert Conway; Special Grandmother In Law: Jackie Ellison; Grand Dogs: Tank, Cookie, Watson, Lee 'am, and Jojo in Heaven. A special thank you to the people at Complete Hospice Care and Fountain View Manor for their loving care and support during his final days.  David chose to donate his body to OU Willed Body Program. A celebration of life will held on March 12th at 2:00PM at New Beginnings Church (First Assembly of God) 1301 Mekusukey Wewoka, OK 74884. Rev. Luke Morrison will be officiating.
