The son of Leonard "Pete" and Barbara Morgan (Keil), David was born on July 22, 1950, in Eugene Oregon, but grew up in Billings, Montana, He was the grandson of Press Morgan and the great-great-grandson of Pierre Berger, who led the original group of Metis to settle the Lewistown area in Montana.
