Tribute to my best friend David on what would have been his 63rd birthday. He loved going to Colorado and river rafting. This is short clips from those events. I miss you David.
So sorry to hear of David’s passing. We have fond memories of early Saturday morning soccer games!
You are in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Mrs. McClung, Carter and Alicia. I am so sorry for the lost of your husband and father. You are in my prayers. I have known you Mrs. McClung for quite some time. You have been the strength that I needed when I lost my baby niece. Your strength and love will help your family. Just remember this, When you look at your beautiful children and grandchildren You will see your husband and father. He is now with God now but always with you in spirit. I would like to leave you with a poem that will help you to heal. Time Will Ease the Hurt
By Bruce Wilmer

The sadness of the present days
Is locked and set in time,
And moving to the future
Is a slow and painful climb.
But all the feelings that are now
So vivid and so real
Can’t hold their fresh intensity
As time begins to heal.
No wound so deep will ever go
Entirely away;
Yet every hurt becomes
A little less from day to day.
Nothing else can erase the painful
Imprints on your mind;
But there are softer memories
That time will let you find.
Though your heart won’t let the sadness
Simply slide away,
The echoes will diminish
Even though the memories stay.
We are so sorry to hear of David’s passing.
He was a quite soul but always had a sweet smile when we saw him. He was a hard worker and I know your family will miss him terribly. Praise God he has built such a great place for his children to spend eternity and we will meet David again one day!

After losing my daughter in 2005, David never had a second thought about letting me borrow his motorcycle to to ride out some of the pain. I enjoyed riding with him when I got my own bike because he simply found joy in the experience. He was experienced and careful but always found an opportunity to open it up during a ride. He was a typically quiet, compassionate and outstanding human being. He will be greatly missed.
My memories of Mr McClung are of watching as he coached my brother’s soccer team. Even with my limited view point I was impressed with his passion and dedication to coaching those boys. Later when I began teaching at Ruby Young, I remember his assisting every year at the grill during school picnics. I watched from a distance as he would smile, laugh and chat with Dave Shepherd and others. It was hot work but he was always faithfully there.

I know you miss him greatly. I look forward to seeing him again. Praying for each of you. -Elizabeth Breed Smith
Dave was always one of my favorite people. My brother, Stan, and I ran into he and Mike last summer at HavRCharburger and they were wringing wet with sweat from working hard all day outside. I still remember in high school when he had a dog that would ride on his motorcycle with him. I thought that was so cool. I know I am not the only one in shock over his passing. And I know I am not the only one who will miss this fine man. RIP, David, and I know I will see you again on the other side.
I am terribly saddened to hear of David's passing. It has been almost 4 decades since I saw him last at ETSU, but it seems like yesterday I was visiting with him and King. He was one of my best friends at school, one of the major reasons I joined Lambda Chi.
David Lynn was a major factor in making me an adrenaline junkie. As I look back, he was the first person I knew that made his own fireworks by dumping powder out of blackcats into a mason jar and filling used smoke bombs. He was my dive buddy while learning scuba. He took me off of the beginner and to the intermediate while skiing in Ruidosa, much to Mikes chagrin. Even earlier in life, he and my brother showed me I could withstand light speed on the merry go round at Lakeside and that I could go into orbit if they threw me that high, but don't cry or we'll get in trouble. He taught me how to water ski. He gave me my love of animals as I marveled at how he could train dogs, and even squirrels. Dave was always in my life and I will always remember him with great fondness.
