Dave, you had the biggest heart and I will remember your infectious smile always!
We (Theresa and Howard) met Dave about 12 years ago and being AF Retirees, we hit it off right away. He loved to listen to my stories as well as I loved to listen to his. We enjoyed his parties and for awhile, we were able to help Suzy and Dave get ready for them. That was the most fun. I enjoyed our lunches at the various locations around Fredericksburg and from that, I believe he knew almost everybody in the area. Our dinners with Suzy and Dave at the Eagles were always a treat. We especially remember the "mess" trying to eat "crab parts", at the house, fortunately, outside! So much work for so little food! That's what knowing Dave was like. His hospitality, kindness, and friendship was the epitome of a true southern gentleman. We'll miss him.
Dave was my supervisor for the last years of my Air Force days, and my best friend at the 459fh. But he was probably best friend to many at the 459fh. That’s the way he was. He was a real people person. Highly intelligent, caring, and kind. God bless him and his family. He was a great man and great patriot.
Fredericksburg lost a great soul and Downtown Salon lost a great friend and the best landlord. We will miss you Dave. We thank you for all you've done for us over the last 21 years.
With love from,
Julie Ricketts and the Staff at Downtown Salon

David was one of the few people that called me “Krissy”. It always brought a smile to my face. His advice, parties, laugh and friendship will be missed. Rest In Peace dear friend.

Prayers for Suzanne, Susan and Danny & family
It’s hard to pick just one memory. Dave threw the best parties, with wonderful food and drink, live music and dancing, swimming in his pool, and great conversation with friends. He loved being a host, and he always wanted to be a person who gave good times to others. Dave had a slightly goofy, infectious laugh, and it wasn’t hard to trigger it. He loved his family, Suzanne, his dogs, the river, his friends, Crown Royal, and flying airplanes, although not necessarily in that order. We will miss him.
In response to "What was the most fun you ever had with David?"
I didn't know Dave but I have seen part of his legacy in the loving and compassionate nature of his children and grandchildren. I pray that the Lord God will comfort and give a safe journey to all those coming to the memorial service today.
Wayne, Eileen, Craig and Matthew Bourne along with all the employees of Comfort Heating and Cooling were saddened to hear of Dave's passing. He was not just a customer but an outstanding business man. He will be missed by many. Our sympathies are with his whole family. Cherish your memories.
Dave was my landlord for 4 years and my carpet cleaning customer for about 20, but became my friend as well. Dave was a caring, kind, thoughtful person who was always interested in my life and wanted to know about my children, etc. He was a true gentleman! So elegant and classy. He had a kind heart and was an important part of the community. He will be missed.
With prayers and deep sympathy,

Don't remember the dates , but Dave and I were Flying a mission to the west coast. I was the AC and Dave was my trusty CP. When climbing out of ADW I had sever tooth pain. I had just had a filling replaced and there was gas under the tooth which expanded. It was bad for me and Dave understood. We stayed low and Dave figured out all the victor routs and got us over the Rockies both ways, east and west and got us home. He was a savior on that mission and we bonded form then on. I shall miss Him, as we miss all our Brothers who have gone to that Borne from whom no man returns. May He rest in piece.
God Bless All, and if we can, Merry Christmas
We are deeply saddened by the loss of our dear friend and neighbor Dave Lough. We have enjoyed many years of his engaging stories and his generous spirit, and we would never be able to count the fun times on the boat, in the pool, co-hosting parties and spending time at Smith Mountain Lake with Dave and Suzanne. You have enhanced our lives of all of the Garretts with your friendship.
Kind. Generous. Loyal. Social. Leader. Patriot. Storyteller. Friend. Larger than life. Fair skies & tailwinds, dear Dave. You will be sorely missed!

Our thoughts & sympathy are with you, Suzanne, Susan, Dan & all your family.

So very sorry to hear Mr Lough passed. I enjoyed his wit and conversations.
You will be greatly missed, David A. Lough. Not only as a wonderful boss but a better friend indeed. I will never forget your advice whenever I would get overwhelmed. Which was quite often with what we do. “Acknowledge the situation, assess the situation, take corrective action on the situation.” You will be greatly missed Sir.

With deepest sympathy,

I had the amazing pleasure to spend 2 unforgettable long weekends at Smith mountain lake with Susan, Dave and Suzanne and the gang. From riding on the pontoon, to the big meals, the amazing views and so many great laughs and stories told. Plus Steve Beaverman. If you know, you know. A time I will always treasure. — Jean Lee
Dearest Susan, Danny, Suzanne and Sue Ellen,
I am so incredibly sorry for your loss! David was such a sweet man. I have known him since we were kids playing in Normandy Village. We reconnected about 10 years ago and I am so glad we did. He was smart, kind, considerate and fun to be around. I just spoke with him 2 weeks ago. He was always asking about Amy and Andy and what was happening with them. He will be truly missed by many people. David touched so many people with his sweet and kind demeanor. He loved his family so much and his friends also. He loved flying and telling stories about his Air Force career. I loved hearing about them!
Fly with the Angels David! ❤🇺🇸🙏🇺🇲
Dave was a bright, funny and respected man. He is already so very missed.
Dave was a unique presence. He was a kind and generous person. Our lives were better for having known him. He will truly be missed.

A good friend that I already miss. You were always there when I needed help or a different perspective on work related issues. We shared some good times that I will never forget, like flying to Coronado in that living room you called a cockpit, or the time us two "small" guys borrowed that Cessna that I wasn't sure was up to the task of getting us off the ground. I knew something was different the night we had that phone conversation, but I didn't think it would be our last. My condolences to Susan, Danny, Sue Ellen and Suzanne.
Thank you for always making me feel welcome in your home. You made myself and my family feel like we were a member of the family, and that will never be forgotten. I will miss the laughs, and the AMAZING stories about your career. May god bless you, your family and everyone that was blessed to know you. Rest In Peace sir, and know you will truly be missed.
