Learned of Dave’s passing today and what a gut punch it was. I was blessed to know Dave from our time on the OCBP. He was a champion rower who always displayed modesty and humility. He was the consummate gentleman at all times. He led by his example. Whether it be an ocean rescue or life in general, Dave had your back. God bless him.
Met Dave in ‘75 on beach patrol. I was 16 and a rookie and he was kind and friendly from the start. My father had played football in college w Dave’s dad and uncle.  What a loss. Rip Dave!

I'm so sorry that Davey has passed and keep thinking of all the good times we had when all of us cousins got together as kids.
I’m so sorry for Dave’s passing. Please be comforted by the fact that he’s in the Lord’s hands now and one day you’ll be reunited with him. You’ll see him again in perfected form as he will gaze upon you. May he Rest in Eternal Peace.
I met Dave in 1980 and worked with him for almost 40 years. Dave was always quick to smile and had the best mustache around. If there was a nicer man in this world, I have not met him.  My condolences to Jane and family.

Jane,

Thank you for reaching out. I am crushed to hear Dave passed.  My heart goes out to you and your family.  I hope his being at peace is a comfort to you all.

I don’t have to tell you what Dave was, but I have never met anyone with as ready and warm a smile. And, what a truly rare match you both made.

I  think of you and Dave every time I see one of the lifeguard stands he built around town and it  makes me smile.  Dave was built of all the good things that men should be.

Jimmy, Kelsey and kids. I am so sorry you lost your father and grandfather. I hope you can come to OC to celebrate him.  Let’s dedicate a bench to him, see his photos on the wall at Bobs Grill and have breakfast.

I’m sending you all our love, prayers and hugs.

Marie & Rich

Life long friend, you will be missed.

With heartfelt condolences, sending thoughts and Prayers to the Family.

I’m sad To hear of Dave’s passing. But I’m joyful for the life he lived and the impact he had on so many people. Myself included. We worked the beach together, and I saw Dave as the future for Palm Beach County. A true Ocean technician, a leader, roommate,  and friend! Him and Jan were like peas and carrots! 😁 I’m grateful to celebrate with others his life.🐬🙏 Larry Chalfant

Jane, Kelsey and Jimmy …. I see his smile, and always felt his kindness.  Truly one of the nicest men I ever met.

May all the wonderful memories you have forever bring smiles to your face and the warmth of his love to your heart.

Thinking of each and all of you, I share in your loss, and smile because I was lucky enough to be welcomed into your family as a friend.

Love and friendship, “Mrs. C

Jane and family -

I am so very sorry for your loss

You will be in my thoughts and prayers

Dave and I met in 7th grade when we both started jr high school. We became good friends until I moved out of the area two years later, but I returned during our senior year and we picked up our friendship where we left off. Even though he went on to college and I did not, we stayed in touch and stayed friends for years until I moved to California. Over the decades we saw each other a few times and I met Jane and the kids. Dave was one of my few “rock solid” guy friends who knew what he wanted and did it. He loved the water and lived his dreams of lifeguarding, rowing, and swimming, along with being a great dad and husband. I was fortunate that we reconnected over the past few years and I was saddened by his illness. The expression “salt of the earth” is rarely applied appropriately, but Dave was all that, and more. Peace in Heaven, Davey, I’m sure the angels will be safe on the beaches up there! Fly, my brother, fly.
We loved Dave! Heartbroken for Janie & family!!

Condolences to the whole family, Jimmy, Kelsey,  grandkids and more. The last few times I saw Dave he was by the ocean at a favorite spot he and his family loves.  Naturally. being a sailor and lover of that ocean, he was always at peace there. Kind-hearted man, lots of knowledge to share, family guy, sparkle in his eye, that wonderful smile, and always fun to be with. We'll miss those times with you Dave! Your bright spirit is now free from the body that had become a burden to you. Sail on, sailor. and praises to the Great  "I am",  live on in the light of the risen lamb."

Jane, Jimmy, Kelsie and family,

Condolences; thinking of your whole family with sympathy and sadness.  Dave was such a sincere, honorable and spiritual man!    He truly will be missed by so many people.
