David's obituary
David Lawson, 67, of Paris, passed away on February 18, 2026, from complications of Alzheimer’s disease.
David was born on May 4, 1958, in Steubenville, Ohio to Edouard and Helen Lawson (née Imhoff). He proudly served his country in the United States Navy before pursuing his calling in nursing. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Goshen College and dedicated his professional life to caring for others.
As a travel registered nurse, David served communities across the United States for many years, bringing skill, calm competence, and kindness wherever he was needed. Later in his career, he found deep meaning in hospice care, serving rural communities in West Virginia and Kentucky with compassion and dignity, walking alongside patients and families during life’s most tender moments.
After retiring from nursing, David embraced the beauty of Kentucky’s rolling landscape in the Lexington area. He enjoyed working outdoors and spent time employed at Lane's End Farm, a place whose pastoral setting suited his love of nature.
David was a peaceful and quiet man with an understated sense of humor and a big heart. He loved hiking, kayaking, camping, and photography. An avid animal lover, he doted on the family pets—Penny and Maddie, his beloved dogs, and Fox and Savvy, the cherished horses. He spoiled them with treats, and they responded warmly to his calm demeanor and gentle voice.
Since 2017, David shared his life with his devoted partner, Brandi Chase, who loved him deeply and shared in his quiet joys, outdoor adventures, and daily companionship. He was warmly welcomed into Brandi’s family, who embraced him as one of their own. David treasured spending holidays with them, enjoying the laughter, traditions, and togetherness that meant so much to him.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Edouard and Helen Lawson, and his sister, Michele May. He is survived by his brother, William Lawson; his son, Timothy Lawson; his grandson, Gage Lawson; his partner, Brandi Chase; Brandi’s loving family; and many friends and colleagues whose lives he touched through his kindness and care.
Burial services will be private. The family asks that you celebrate David in your own way—whether by spending time outdoors, caring for an animal, helping someone in need, or simply enjoying a quiet moment in nature in his memory.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Bourbon County Senior Center, 11 Legion Dr., Paris, KY 40361. Dog and horse treats in David’s memory may be sent to Brandi Chase at 717 Pleasant St., Paris, KY.
David will be remembered for his servant’s heart, quiet strength, and the gentle way he made the world softer and kinder for those around him. He will be deeply missed.
