Rice Family, my sincere condolences. Losing someone you love is never easy, and it’s even harder when their life feels cut short. I came across David’s obituary and it broke my heart. He was a man full of life and love. I’m really sorry.

The Bible gives us real comfort at John 11:11, Jesus compares death to a peaceful sleep, and Jehovah promises to wake our loved ones again. Acts 24:15 reminds us of that beautiful hope of the resurrection. I pray this hope gives you comfort and strength as you look forward to seeing David again.

We were at the Damien & Steven Marley show last night on top of Snow King and I know that David was there in spirit.  He would not have missed that one for the world.  Happy Birthday Dave!  Hope that you are enjoying Zion and looking after us all down here.

I just learned of Dave’s passing from the CU alumni magazine. Though Dave and I grew distant over the years, the news is crushing all the same. Dave, some friends of ours (Sean, Roy, Brian, Dylan, Franklin), and I formed a band together in our early 20s while at CU. Some of my most precious musical memories were formed as we explored sonic texture and improvisation together. Dave was a great musician, and an absolutely beautiful human being. I cherish the time I had with him and I send love and light to everyone who had the great fortune to call him a friend.
