I met Dave in 1990. Fortunately for me he was my uncles Alta doubles partner. I came to Dunwoody to visit my Aunt and Uncle and left with what would become one of my best friends. Dave was not just a great guy but we both loved Springsteen and my life changed for the better that day. I moved to Atlanta a year later and he immediately inserted me into his amazing friend group Chris, Pete, Bill, and so many others. We worked together, played tennis, hung out at the James pool a lot, went to the dog track, sky dived twice, worked out at sports life, went to Buckhead or the highlands every Friday and Saturday night, we spent a month eating wings to see if there were any better than three dollar. There were not. He took me to my first SEC football game then found me about 3 am sleeping in a stairwell. He was very concerned where Pete was fortunately I had rolled Pete into the bushes. We listened to countless hours of Springsteen, Petty, Driving N Cryin and so many others driving down Spaulding Rd. We hung out in Chicago,New York, Boston, Destin with Braves players at Acme when they stunk. Later that year they were in first. We played on multiple softball teams together. We sat 4th row at a Springsteen acoustic show. He rode with me to my brothers wedding in New Hampshire and back. He was in my wedding. He bought me my fist beer when I turned 21. I would not have met my wife if it wasn’t for his advise. He always gave me great advise about everything. He told me to not look back keep looking forward all the good stuff is ahead. I know God put Dave in my life and it was amazing. My life became so much better the day I met him and when we meet again my friend there will be a whole eternity to make new memories. I love you DJ I miss you Dave and I will always know that my life on earth was better because I knew you. I will alway remember singing this song at the top of our lungs in the red Porsche with the top off Enjoy the Thunder road buddy
Well now I’m no hero
That’s understood
All the redemption I can offer, girl
Is beneath this dirty hood
With a chance to make it good somehow
Hey what else can we do now
Except roll down the window
And let the wind blow back your hair
Well the night’s busting open
These two lanes will take us anywhere
We got one last chance to make it real
To trade in these wings on some wheels
Climb in back, heaven’s waiting on down the tracks
Oh come take my hand
We’re riding out tonight to case the promised land
Oh Thunder Road, oh Thunder Road
oh Thunder Road
