David's obituary

David Ganczewski, 63, of Whiting, Indiana, formerly of Camarillo, California, passed away on November 17, 2025, just days before his 64th birthday. Born on November 21, 1961, Dave was the beloved son of Leonard and Georgene (Leck) Ganczewski.

Dave grew up in the Chicago area, attended George Washington High School, and spent much of his life moving between Chicago and Camarillo — two places he loved and never quite wanted to choose between. No matter where he landed, he left people smiling.

If you knew Dave, you knew his laugh. He was the guy who walked into a room and immediately lifted the mood. A natural jokester with a big heart, he was the life of the party and one of the kindest souls you could ever hope to meet. He had a gift for making people feel lighter, seen, and welcome.

Dave was as handy as they come — especially with cars — and he had a genuine eye for interior decorating. Hanging drapes might sound simple, but in Dave’s hands, it was an art form. He loved roller skating, spending time with friends, watching football and racing, and most of all, being around his family. They were his absolute center.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Georgene.

Dave is survived by his loving siblings Christine Brzycki; Sandra (Pete) Bradich; Debra (Michael) Rossodivito; and Scott Gramenz. He leaves behind cherished nieces and nephews John Harvey, Amy, Michael, Kevin Wiesch, Stevie, Nikki, Abby Bradich, Vinnie, Frankie Rossodivito, Mylee Ki-Gramenz, and Demee Geyn Gramenz; his aunt Tessie Krajci; and many great-nieces, great-nephews, and dear friends who will miss him deeply.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Steve's Lounge in Hegewisch on December 7, 2025 at Noon. Please RSVP below or reach out to a family member or AquaGreen Dispositions.
