So sorry to hear that he's passed. We worked together a few years at ICL.  I too remember him for taking me on my first real camping trip up in the Sierra Nevadas. Also took me around the "Apple Hill" fall festivals. May he rest in peace and love to his family.

I have known Mike for many years through our connections of advocacy. His passion and enduring drive for so many quality outdoor programs was always recognized by those of us who worked with him. He was a vital member of the SCCPR Volunteer Coordinating Council for many years, as well as the Santa Clara County subcommittee for Bay Area Ridge Trail which was my main interactions with him, and he was always willing to help out and work together. His drive to get the Penitencia trail established and the connections with Berryessa BART for Bay Area Ridge Trail was unyielding. He leaves a large legacy with the trail of his great involvement.   My sympathies to all his family.

My condolences to Mike's family. He was such a kind person. I first met Mike during the Measure Q campaign for the open space authority and he always had a helpful idea to share and something nice to say to the group. He was also always ready to roll up his sleeves and get to work. He was a kind person and seemed to make the world a gentler, happier place.
I will always remember Mike's enthusiasm for nature and community events. He was always excited to talk about activities we could offer. He always seemed like such a kind soul and a bright light of a person to know. I am grateful to have met him.
