David's obituary
David Henry Fabrizius
March 23, 1946 - January 17, 2025
We mourn the loss of David Henry Fabrizius, age 78, who passed away unexpectedly at his home in Orcutt.
David was born in Phillipsburg, KS, and grew up in Windsor, CO, and Sierra Vista, AZ, where he graduated from Buena High School. A talented athlete, David excelled in football, basketball, and baseball throughout his high school years. In his senior year, he was selected to play in the 1964 Arizona High School All-Star Football Game and earned a full-ride football scholarship to Arizona State University. He later finished his college career at Adams State in Alamosa, CO.
After college, David moved to Bakersfield, where he initially worked in security before completing his electrician apprenticeship and becoming a lineman. His career took him to Taft and Loveland, CO, before he moved to Worcester, MA. There, he worked as a lineman and safety instructor for a five-state area. After retiring, David returned to Bakersfield but couldn’t sit still for long and earned his real estate license, before later moving to Orcutt.
David was a dedicated member of the Lutheran Church throughout his life, most recently attending the Church of Our Savior in Santa Maria. He was also a proud member of the Santa Maria Elks Lodge.
David was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Fabrizius; his father, Rev. Louis Fabrizius; his brother, Michael Fabrizius; and his nephew, Eric Stephens.
He will be remembered for his sharp sense of humor, strong work ethic, and generosity.
He is survived by his loving partner, Sue Busbee, of Orcutt; daughters Alexa Fabrizius of Puyallup, WA, and Stephanie Sternbeck of Taft; son Shaun Foote of Chico; mother Genevieve Fabrizius of Los Osos; sisters Janet Schieber of Los Osos and Mary Shelton of Bakersfield; grandsons Jack and Harrison Layton, Johnathan, Kristian, and Jayden Foote; great-grandson Ezran Foote; as well as an aunt, numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends, including his beloved dog, Siggy, who will miss him dearly.
A memorial service and celebration of David's life will be held on Thursday, January 30, at 11:00 AM at the Lutheran Church of Our Savior, 4725 Bradley Road, Santa Maria. A reception will follow in the church social hall. In lieu of flowers, donations in David's memory may be made to the Lutheran Church of Our Savior or a charity of your choice.
