David's obituary

Obituary

It is with great sorrow that we share that David Paul Everett (1961-2025) died from health complications at the age of 64 on Friday, Dec. 20, 2025. Dave was born in Richland, Wa. His family moved to California when he was four and then relocated ten years later to Salem, Or., where he attended high school at Salem Academy and then Judson Baptist College for a year or two.

Dave had a wide range of interests and talents that included reading, cooking, being with friends and family, word puzzles, crocheting, history, acting, singing, puppeteering, and sewing. He also loved trivia and board games. Scrabble, Trivial Pursuit, and Chronology were games he excelled at greatly. He was an accomplished cook and loved to try new recipes, often delighting family/friends or proudly displaying his gourmet plates on his FB page along with the recipes for all his friends to see and perhaps try. In his youth, Dave sang lead in a Christian band for a short time and acted in a number of plays and musicals in high school, college, and at a local theater. And as an adult, he sang in the gay man’s chorus as well.

Dave started out a server/cook and at one point even owned a small (and super yummy!) restaurant. Then after a stint as an airline ticket agent, he ended up with a career as an IT Coordinator at Kaiser Permanente where he worked for 27 years!

He didn’t find the man of him dreams but agreed early-on with his best friend, Tiffany, that if they hadn’t married at some point, they should marry each other. They did so in 1995 – thirty years ago! She described his friendship as the feeling of a protective umbrella in the rain.

And he never had any children but was an enormous presence in the lives of his many nieces and nephews, as well as his godchildren, Miles and Olivia Stepleton, for whom he was like another parent.

Dave was loyal, loving, compassionate, and had a wonderful sense of humor. Dave cherished his family and close friends, and the feeling was mutual. He made people feel important and was a fabulous listener. Once his friend, you were always his friend. He expressed his love in quality time and gift-giving. He quickly became the “favorite” uncle to his nephews and nieces, lifting them up whenever he could and bragging about them and their accomplishments. He was also very passionate about his convictions particularly around equality and his politics. He loved to laugh and found humor in many things. He was wildly quick witted and was fabulous with the quick comebacks!

Dave was survived by: Spouse Tiffany Hitchcock; sister Bev Landgren (Tim); brother Steve Everett (Mendi); (3) Nieces: Chelsey Boyd (Matt), Carmin O’Neill (Brad), Kenzie Rice (Jaiden); (3) Nephews: Kacey Everett (Kaitlyn), Collin Everett, Kobe Everett; (2) Grand nieces: Maddi and Ozzy; (3) Grand nephews: Emmitt, Lincoln and Samson; Surogate in-laws: Tom and Sammy Pearson; Step-Mom: Monica Everett.

Dave was predeceased by: Grandmother: Connie Thomson; Parents: Paul and Jolene Everett; Nephew: Jason Taylor.
