David's obituary

David Michael Edmier, age 59, of Apache Junction, Arizona, passed away suddenly on Saturday, December 27, 2025.

David was born in Chicago, Illinois, to Christel Hasenbring Ilg and Thomas Edmier and grew up in Addison, Illinois. He graduated from Addison Trail High School and studied Engineering at Marquette University. He was known for his strong work ethic and his sense of humor. David loved to make people laugh, and his quick wit and playful teasing left an impression on everyone who knew him.

David loved sports and was a lifelong Chicago fan — especially the Cubs and the Bears — following the teams with enthusiasm, and he also enjoyed golfing. He coached his children's softball and basketball teams when they were growing up and could often be found practicing with them, offering advice, encouragement, and plenty of commentary. Sports were one of the ways he connected, taught, and showed up.

He had a love for music, especially rock and roll and country, which he played loudly while drumming along on the dashboard during drives in his truck. He was known for making exceptional burgers, watching the Bourne movies on repeat, and, more recently, for raising prize-winning chickens — something that brought him a lot of pride. David also enjoyed traveling (especially when it included swimming with sea turtles) and spending time with family and friends.

David had a way of telling people what they wanted to hear and then doing things his own way anyway — a trait those who knew him well will recognize and remember. David had strong opinions and always enjoyed having lively debates about differing viewpoints.

He is survived by his wife, Victoria Dahlstrand-Edmier; his children, Jayme Henderson (Kevin Henderson), Alexa Edmier (Ryan Johnston), and Trace Edmier (Mikaeli Davidson); his granddaughters, Avery Henderson and Nora Henderson; his stepson, Jacob Kelly; his mother, Christel Hasenbring Ilg (Harvey Ilg); his brothers, Tommy Edmier (Kathy Edmier) and Danny Edmier (Peggy Edmier); nieces and nephews (Andrew Edmier, Katie Madden, Matthew Edmier, Heidi Edmier, Paige Edmier); his father, Thomas Edmier; his former wife and the mother of his children, Tanya Mullins; and extended family. He is also survived by his beloved dogs, Wrigley, Shelby, and Lola.

David's life was made up of many chapters, and he will be remembered through the stories, memories, and moments he shared with those who knew and loved him. To his children and grandchildren, he will always be lovingly remembered as "Pops."

In place of flowers, financial contributions toward David's Celebration of Life would be sincerely appreciated and will help us gather to honor and remember him. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
