David's obituary
David William Daugherty Sr. died unexpectedly at his home in Hernando Beach, FL on Sunday, February 1st, 2026. He was preceded in death by his beloved partner Nancy Zielinski, a loss he carried close to his heart.
He was born in St. Mary’s, Ohio on Saturday, February 13th, 1960, he was the son of the late John Daugherty and Anne Morlath Daugherty and one of seven siblings.
David was a graduate of Penn State University and worked for many years as a florist at County Line Rose, a business he and Nancy owned. His creativity, dedication, and passion were evident in every arrangement he created. Outside of work, he found comfort and companionship in his dog Evy, who remained faithful by his side during his last moments.
David loved spending time outdoors and on the water. He loved kayaking, jet skiing, fishing, crabbing, and boating on the warm and calm waters of the Gulf of America. He cherished the time he spent with his family and most recently treasured the time spent with his son, daughter-in-law, and grandson over the summer kayaking, fishing, swimming with the manatees and riding the roller coasters. Those moments brought him immense happiness and will be held close by those who loved him.
David is survived by his son, David Jr. and wife Charlene, and his daughter, Laura, his grandchildren Aidan, Amanda and Michael, and Kiersten and Gabe, his great-grandchildren Aria, Myles, and Mateo. Also, his brothers John and wife Jeanne, Robert and wife Lois, Thomas and wife Patti, and Joseph and wife Jennifer, his sister-in-law Carol Lynn and brother-in-law Marty, and many nieces and nephews.
He is also preceded in death by his brother Paul Daugherty, his sister Carol Kubilus, and his nephew Tyler Kubilus.
In accordance with David’s wishes, no services will be held. A celebration of life will take place in Hernando Beach, Florida, and later this year in Pennsylvania. Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Pinecrest Chapel & Cremation Service. David’s ashes will be scattered in the Gulf of America, a place he loved.
