David's obituary

David Edward Cowgill, 54, of Atlantic Beach, FL, passed away March 22, 2021, with his loving wife, Patti, by his side. He was born November 28, 1966, in Alton, IL. David attended Alton Elementary School before moving to Mt. Juliet, TN, where he attended Mt. Juliet High School and Memphis State University.

David met his wife Patti in 2002 through a mutual friend. His love for Patti grew as did his love for her son Grayson. David and Patti married in 2007. David raised Grayson as if he were his own.

One of his greatest accomplishments was being Grayson’s dad. David and Grayson loved to spend time together. They enjoyed watching movies together, going to the gun range, and David was especially proud of being an Ole Miss dad. He enjoyed going to trivia nights; taking family trips to Disney; and all things Elvis. He worked in the car business for 30 years and prided himself on always helping his friends with their car purchases. He loved to cook and to bake for his family and friends. Watching the joy his food brought to his family and friends was a gift to him, and he was always willing to share recipes or kitchen tips. David would do anything for those he called friend.

Survivors include his loving wife, Patti; beloved son, Grayson; parents, Terry and Jeannie Cowgill of Mt Juliet, TN; mother-in-law, Jackie Cole; sister, Jami Awalt (Brad); nephew, Ethan; niece, Lily; and aunts, uncles and many cousins who mourn his loss. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Walter and Helen Nuzum and Albert and Mildred Cowgill.

The family would like to give a special thank you to the nurses and staff at the Community Hospice McGraw Center for Caring, the Mayo Dialysis Center, and to Dr. David Graham at JOI.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that any donations be made to "Education Fund for Grayson Tuttle" through Bank of America account 898123155837 or through the go-fund-me set up for the same purpose at https://gofund.me/c42221e1
