David "Dennis"'s obituary

David “Dennis” Emmanuel S. Conty died unexpectedly at INOVA Fair Oaks Hospital on Friday, May 15, 2020 in Fairfax, VA at the age of 50.
David is survived by his wife, Wendy Ann Conty, his mother Alma Samonte Conty, and siblings Donnie Amado, Diana Jessica, and Emmanuel “Noli” Dean Conty and his wife Lindsay Anne and niece Corlia Anne Conty. He is preceded in death by his daughter Dennis Samuel Conty, father Emmanuel “Jun” Atienza Conty, nephew Emmanuel Camden Conty, and father-in-law Robert Samuel Willoughby.
David was the eldest son born to Emmanuel and Alma on December 12, 1969 in Washington, DC, and in keeping with Filipino tradition, he was named after both of his grandfathers. However, his Tatay (Tagalog word for Dad) always wanted to call him Dennis, and therefore his family and friends grew up calling him by that nickname. Raised in Falls Church, VA, he was proud to have been in the last graduating class of seniors from Congressional School.
He started his college journey at the University of Toronto in Canada, after which he transferred to and graduated from George Mason University in 1993 with a degree in Urban Systems Engineering. When he wasn’t in class or out riding his motorcycle, he could be found in the pool hall. There he met friends who changed the course of his life forever by introducing him to a campus ministry called Immanuel Christian Fellowship (ICF). Through ICF and many solo fishing trips spent talking with God, he gave his life to Christ, which had an indelible impact on his life.
In the late 90’s, David stumbled upon a girl asking for advice about the DC area in a Yahoo chat room for job seekers. He later married that girl, Wendy, on April 28, 2001. Wendy and David did not always have the easiest journey, but they pledged to always do life together. David loved Jesus, and his wife and family were extremely important to him—a trait he inherited from his father.
David was fiercely loyal to his friends regularly flexed his love language through acts of service for all those around him. He loved dogs, especially his French bulldog Cooley. He had a wide variety of hobbies ranging from airsoft to three gun and was known to immerse himself fully in whatever he wanted to learn. David was an excellent chef and self-proclaimed foodie but also had a passion for cars, board games, music, firearms, and video games—and he was teaching himself how to play the bass guitar. He enjoyed movies especially all things Harry Potter, Star Trek, Star Wars and especially the Marvel Universe with his favorite character being Rocket Raccoon.
David is a former member of the english ministry of Open Door Presbyterian Church and of Fair Oaks Church and for the past four years has been an active member of the Reston Community Church where he served with Wendy as a small group leader. He loved his church as an extension of his family.
David also served as the Secretary for the Cedar Lakes Condominium Association. He was most proud of his accomplishments as a CERT volunteer for Fairfax County, a Sig Sauer P320 armorer, and a licensed Firearms Instructor. Most recently, he had started a new job working as an IT Specialist for KSJ & Associates in Falls Church, VA which he thoroughly enjoyed.
Above it all, David strove to live a life worthy of his calling in Christ. He will be profoundly missed by his family and friends.
A virtual Celebration of Life is scheduled for 9:00pm EST Saturday, May 30, 2020 via Zoom webinar. More details to follow.
