My husband, David, and I have such fond memories of Dave. Friends through our church, RCC, I was blessed to live near them before I got married. I enjoyed having Wendy over for girl-time and dinner and was blessed when she and Dave come over late at night to help me with my car. Dave taught me the proper way to change a car battery. :) David enjoyed bonding with Stewie-the-jerk (ha!) and serving Dave and Wendy so they could enjoy a well-deserved vacation.
David and I enjoyed going to their house for game nights and were looking forward to having them visit our new home together for a dinner and game night here.
David was telling me recently how much fun he had with Dave at his bachelor party and was so glad Dave was there. Thank you for coming to our wedding Dave and Wendy!
I truly admire your heart for mentoring young Christians and young married couples. Your legacy will not be forgotten, Dave.
Wendy, we're still planning to have you over for dinner and games and more good times and memories to make. We love you!
As Wendy’s Mother, I will be forever grateful for the loving husband that David was to Wendy. We are 2 1/2 hours away from her, but I knew she was well protected and cared for. We were so blessed to have David as part of our family. He will be greatly missed.

Dave and Wendy were our first bible study leaders when we moved to Northern Virginia. It was the month after we got married that we moved here and started looking for a small group. The Conty small group was an instant fit. We felt so welcomed by Dave and Wendy from the start and admired their leadership of the group. The way that they didn’t shy away from difficult conversations but welcomed them, the vulnerability they themselves were willing to take to allow others to feel more comfortable, and the emphasis that they put on making small group feel more like a family. As I mentioned, my husband and I were newlyweds, recently moved away from home, so finding a church family in our new home meant so much to us. One thing (of many) that I will always treasure about having had Dave as our bible study leader was his heart for being a servant leader. A point that the Conty’s always made, especially during prayer requests was - I will certainly be praying for you but is there anything else I can be doing, practically to help meet that need? For example, if someone were to share that they were having car trouble or an appliance bust at home and wanted prayer for that only a brief moment would go by before Dave would smile and turn to his phone to find a date when he could go over and take a look. We desired marriage mentors to help us walk through our first year of marriage and without hesitation, Dave and Wendy would drive several miles away from home after a full days work to share a meal and chat with us about our relationship, questions we had and to help walk us through areas where we were struggling.
Dave and Wendy have played an instrumental part of our first years in Virginia as well as our first years in our marriage and for that we will always be grateful beyond measure.
One is never prepared to lose someone and for a parent to lose a child, to me is unthinkable. I lost my husband and a grandson last year, now less than two weeks before their first death anniversary, I lose my first born. I am not able to understand these events but only to raise it up to God in His timing and wisdom for us in our family. I pray for strength to face life without Dennis, his father and his nephew. Everyone in the Conty and Cabreza-Samonte-Zaballa clans will miss you Dennis . Wendy – we thank you for taking care of Dennis thru your 19 years together.
