David's obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of David (Dave) Cayer, Davey boy, who sadly left this world way too soon.
Dave was born on December 19, 1964 in Cornwall, Ontario. In 1966 the family moved to Port Alberni where he grew up and met many of his lifelong friends. Dave earned a degree in Engineering from the University of Victoria (UVIC) in 1993. His career took him to many countries throughout the world where he had amazing experiences that he loved sharing with us. He lived a life full of purpose, laughter, and heart.
He was so much more than a brother, an uncle, and a friend, he was a mentor, and a quiet hero to many.
Known for his love of travel, kind spirit, and ability to make anyone feel seen, he brought light into every room he entered. Whether he was MC’ing a family wedding, snowboarding with his nieces or mountain biking with his nephew. He would always show-up for a casual hang out, go for dinner, sit on a patio, play his guitar or tell stories that had everyone laughing. He always gave his all to everything in his life and was know as the ultimate “funcle” (fun uncle).
Dave had a gift for showing up when it mattered most. He never missed a celebration or a moment to let you know you mattered. His love was steady, strong, and unconditional.
He is survived by his sisters, brothers, cousins, nieces (great), nephews (great), all of whom carry his lessons and legacy in their hearts.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
