Missing you today on your birthday.  You made the world a better place.  Love you lil' cousin.

Love you and miss you, lil' cuz.  You enriched our lives with your presence and love.  You are one in a million and very much missed but we know that you are with Jesus in heaven.

I met David when he moved into our community neighborhood in Crosslake. We soon learned we shared several of life's experiences, working at 3M Co, Christianity, and an interest in the books he's authored.

I met Dave in a hotel lobby where our respective consulting projects had lodged us all, I had worked with his brother Kent off and on since 2005 so I knew he was in the same overall consulting circle as me. Last August Dave and I worked together briefly  on a common engagement and then he passed. It was shocking and the finality of it all still makes me stop and think, as should we all. Keeping in touch with family members and dear friends is very important, you never know what tomorrow will bring.

Dave & I had several deep conversations over the years. We both shared the journey of recovery. David was a beautiful soul. Like everyone, I was shocked and deeply saddened by his sudden passing. He loved his girls, his mom and his brothers very much.  It was a thrill to see Dave so happy moving / living in his new home in Crosslake. Seeing all that he shared on social media around loving lake living was such a joy to see.  I appreciated Dave sharing his joy and deep gratitude with all of us. I will remember Dave always. He was a beautiful man with a beautiful soul. May He Rest In Eternal Peace. Until we meet again—“You aren’t going to believe this…”

With my deepest condolences and love,

Sandi

It was great to get to know David through our prayer group. I know he loved the Lord and his family

I have so many good memories of playing with my cousin David when our families would get together in MN, at Gramma’s cabin at the lake, or while the Carlsons were in the Black Hills camping. I remember running around in the dark playing kick the can and other “boy” games I didn’t get to play except when the cousins were around. David and I were close in age; he was a good kid and I loved him. However, what I cherish most is the grown-up David and the chats we had about how we’d lived our lives, our regrets about mistakes we had made, how we could do better, and what we dreamed of doing. We talked about writing, a passion I never knew he had, and I loved seeing him bring his book ideas to reality.  David’s efforts to bring his life into focus with the light he knew should be guiding him have been transformative. I’m so proud of my cousin, his wisdom, his goodness, and his courage to live his beliefs. To Aunt Mary Jane, Keith, Kent, McKenna, Alexa, and Uncle Mark looking on, I wanted to share with you how David was special to me. It is certain that you have been the family of his dreams.

So sad to hear the passing of a life long fan.   I am in total shock.   We played on many BAA teams and graduated together.    Prayers to Carlson family and especially Dave's two daughters.   I wished I could attend the service on Wednesday.    RIP Dave, you were one of the good guys in the class of 1983.

Hi Alexa & McKenna

Your dad and I were consulting friends since 2007. He always spoke about how proud he was of you both. He was a great guy and loved Christ. While we haven't spoken recently, I'll miss his laughter and wit.

In His love

Michael Hopson

The whole Carlson family is like my own, how many books we could write about our adventures in times together.  My sadness at David's passing doesn't last long when I focus on the joy we will continue to share in heaven together, someday with all the Carlsons and the Talleys together forever with Jesus.  That makes me smile.

Dave,

We’ve not talked since high school. By all accounts you grew into a good man and raised a wonderful family. My condolences to your brothers and family. You’ve left a great legacy.

To my Carlson's family, my deepest condolences to y’all. You are in my prayers. As the scripture says,“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; Thy rod and thy staff they comfort me”. I hope these words will bring you comfort. Amen.

Our story goes back to 1960 when we moved into the same neighborhood.  There were 2 houses that separated our homes, but never separated our children. Keith and Kent came first, then our son Dave followed by our daughter Christine, then the ever present Davey Carlson.  Our lives will be joined together as we shared life and the Lord.  We are grateful for the opportunity to continue to share for all these years.  Our hearts and prayers to Mary, and our other sons, the boys.  I can hear Davey in his heavenly home singing with his dad Mark the song ,  I can only imagine as they wait for us to join them.  He is preparing a home for us on 10 th Ave.  loving you all Chuck and Jane Barnes

It is with my deepest sadness and condolences that I read about David’s passing.  He was such a kind, patient and caring person.  My heart and prayers go out to you Mary, Kent, Keith and the entire family.  You are in and will remain in our thoughts and prayers.
