Dave's obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of David "Dave" Anthony Bryte, who departed this life on November 18, 2024. Born on March 7, 1972, Dave lived a life full of enthusiasm, always lighting up the room with his vibrant presence.
Throughout his life, Dave was the life of the party, always filling his surroundings with joy and laughter. He was best known for his exuberant rendition of the 'Happy Birthday' song, a memorable performance forever etched in the hearts of those lucky enough to witness it. An avid sports enthusiast, Dave passionately supported the Duke Blue Devils and the Pittsburgh Steelers but enjoyed watching all sports.
Dave was born in Sacramento, California, where he spent his formative years. He graduated from Rancho Cordova High School in 1990, then went onto American River College in Sacramento and then the Career College of Northern Nevada where he earned his Associate Degree in Electronic Engineering and his A+ Certification. He moved to Reno in 1996 and worked for the Reno School District as well as Sierra Office Solutions. Dave met his wife Cindi in February of 1997, where they built a life together in Reno, Nevada.
In 2001, Dave and Cindi moved to Groton, CT to be closer to their New England family. Dave worked at Foxwoods as a Surveillance Technician from 2001 - 2007 and then took a job at Mohegan Sun as a Physical Security Specialist until the Fall of 2024. At the time of his death, Dave was employed at Brown University and he was very proud of that.
Dave had a zest for life and loved spending time with friends and family. He was an animal lover and always had pets over the years including several cats and his beloved dog, Bear. He enjoyed playing golf, watching sports and movies, listening to music, and attending car shows. Some of his favorite vacation spots included camping with family and visiting family and friends in California.
In 2004 Dave and Cindi welcomed their son, Joshua David Bryte and in 2005 they welcomed their daughter, Sierra Everett Bryte. Dave was a devoted dad, and helped coach their Little League and basketball teams. He was active in helping with all of their many activities including Boy Scouts, and never missed any of his kid's musical performances or sporting events.
Dave was a member at the Groton Congregational Church, where Cindi and their family have worshiped for many years.
Dave is survived by his wife Cindi and children Josh and Sierra. He is also survived by his mother, Yvonne Bryte and his grandmother, Sandy Janicki, both of Sacramento, CA and his beloved Aunt Therese and her husband John Voehl of Eagle River, Alaska. He is also survived by his brother Christian of California and his sister Kate of Nevada, as well as his sister-in-law Sharon and her husband Louis Tracia, Jr. of Shrewsbury, Massachusetts and his brother-in-law Richard Ogonowsky, Jr. of Centerville, Massachusetts. He is also predeceased by his mother in law, Paula Reddington formerly of Groton Connecticut and his father in law, Richard Ogonowsky Sr., formerly of San Mateo California.
Dave is deeply missed by so many, but his spirit will continue to live on in their hearts.
