Our warmest condolences to Dave’s family. We were deeply saddened to hear of Dave’s passing as we looked forward to spending another summer fishing and teaching alongside him in West Yellowstone. We know that you will be comforted as we are comforted by the knowledge that Dave’s long and courageous battle with cancer is over.
We were privileged to enjoy spending time on the stream fishing with Dave; discussing flies, strategies, and fishing or tying techniques with him over a stream side lunch or a pizza; teaching new fly fishermen at Bob’s Sunday casting lessons; or just spending time with Dave and watching the skill and efficiency of his casting. I was flattered to the utmost to be asked to share some of my patterns and “special ties” with Dave
We will miss him and hope you take comfort in knowing that he had many friends and helped many people learn the joys of fly fishing.
May God console you and keep you in the palm of His hand.

I met Dave about three years ago. We share Army stories since I was also in the Army. The best part going fly fishing with him and sharing some many secrets. Dave thanks for your friendship. Thanks for the good times I will never forget them.
GOD BLESS!!!!

We knew you for a short season but you left a lasting impression.
I gathered wild turkey feathers and some interesting feathers from our chickens for you and saw your eyes twinkle when you saw them knowing what you could craft with them.
We have your beautiful American flag that flies on special holidays with pride and in memory of you and your service.
God Bless and keep you Dave and may your Memory be Eternal ✝️

Dave was a true ambassador of fly fishing. As a beginning fly fisherman, I found Dave to be most gracious with his time, knowledge and experience. He even offered to help set me up with the appropriate rod and reel combo for my new pursuit. A very unselfish individual who wanted to help anyone and everyone experience the joy of fly fishing!

I was deeply saddened to hear of Dave’s passing. He was one of the kindest, most genuine men I have ever met. My husband and I met him while wintering in AZ. Very fond memories of the good times we had together down there. RIP friend, you won’t be forgotten 😢

I’m heartbroken to learn of Dave’s death. He was a true gentleman, a kind soul, a funny guy and a talented angler and fly tier. He extended kindness and support to me over the past 4+ years that I’ve been tying at various shows. We’d just seen one another at the Edison show and I was looking forward to tying beside him at the Lancaster show next month. His goodbye hug and his words are that much more special now. My thoughts remain with his family and friends.

A good friend, a great human being and a longtime fly fisherman. Dave was one of the kindest people I’ve ever known.
