David's obituary

David Murphy Baker Sr. passed from this earthly life on Saturday April 23, 2022. David was born to the late Cary Carnell Baker and Hope Murphy Baker on the 10th day in May 1957. He attended Central High School and graduated from Ravenwood Academy. David was a spiritual man who enjoyed singing the Lord’s praises throughout his life, which included singing in his church choir with pride for many years. This carried over to his children and wife throughout life as they loved hearing him sing. David was an avid fisher and thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his family.  He was recently able to move back to Tennessee to be with his children and grandchildren. Throughout his life, David always felt compelled to help others any chance he got. No matter the situation, if he felt he could be of use, he was there.

He will be sorely missed and is survived by his wife of 42 years Angela Rae Baker (Barnes); their two children David Baker Jr. and his wife Susie, and daughter Amber Rains and her husband David; his grandchildren Ava & Trenton Rains, Emalie & Emorie Baker, the unborn child of David and Susie Baker, Andrew Wurst & his wife Meghan, Alex Wurst, and Hunter Mims. David was also survived by his older brother Cary Baker and wife Louisa, & sister Emalie Jarrett and husband Larry; along with many other beloved friends and family.

We will forever be grateful for the amount of time he was given here on Earth with us and take peace in knowing he is whole again in Heaven. We know he is rejoicing to once again be with his mother, father, and his beautiful daughter Jennifer Ann Wurst Mims.

Everyone who remembers David is asked to honor him in their own way. Raising a glass of your favorite drink or taking that trip you’ve been waiting for the right time to take. If you feel the desire to make a donation in his name, there is a great organization that we believe he would be proud to know that through his name helped boys and girls with special needs get outdoors and enjoy God’s creations through fishing. We will keep you in our hearts always Dad!!! Love You Forever and Always!!!

As David always used to say to his kids and others, “Always keep looking up!”
