David's obituary
David Joseph Baca, age 68, passed away peacefully on June 28th, 2022, in Moreno Valley, California. Born in Los Angeles, California, and raised in Santa Barbara, David lived a life marked by dedication, service, and an insatiable curiosity.
David was a man of many talents and professions. He began his career serving as an EMT, paramedic, and police officer before becoming a respiratory therapist. David's passion for helping others was evident in each role he undertook. In addition to his medical and public service career, David achieved a law degree, showcasing his commitment to learning and growth.
In his youth, David had a flair for freelance photography. He would listen to police scanners, rush to the scenes, and capture compelling images to sell to newspapers. This adventurous spirit and dedication to his craft remained a constant throughout his life.
David had a voracious appetite for knowledge, often found with his nose buried in newspapers, books, or magazines. He was a formidable opponent in Trivial Pursuit, his vast knowledge making him unbeatable. His love for reading was only rivaled by his love for cooking. He was famous for his tacos, a family favorite, and could often be found in the kitchen experimenting with new recipes.
A man of diverse interests, David cherished his collection of guns and enjoyed visiting his wife Cynthia’s family in Louisiana, where he was embraced as one of their own.
David was known for his generosity and willingness to help anyone in need. His sense of humor was legendary, bringing joy and laughter to all who knew him with his clever dad jokes.
David is survived by his beloved wife, Cynthia Baca; his daughters, Tracy Baca and Caitlyn Baca; and his stepson, Andrew Roche. He was preceded in death by his parents, Narcisco and Consuelo Baca. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and dedication to his family and community.
A memorial service to honor David’s life was held on August 26th, 2022. David was cremated, and his ashes were spread on the beaches of Santa Barbara, Seal Beach, and Pismo Beach, all places where he lived. His wife and children also hold some of his ashes.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations of unwrapped toys for local children in need (ages 0-12) to Tustin Ranch Corps, 10200 Pioneer Road, Tustin, CA 92782. in memory of David Joseph Baca.
David's warmth, intelligence, and humor will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
