David's obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of David Charles Arndt, a cherished husband, father, friend, and caretaker, who peacefully left this world at home on August 26, 2025. Born on November 24, 1940 in Berwick, Pennsylvania, David, affectionately known as "PaPere" by his grandchildren, lived a rich and contented life marked by love, adventure, and an unwavering dedication to his family and friends.
David is survived by his devoted wife Brenda, children Monica (Jack) Poling, Clayton (Patty) Arndt, Rebecca (Todd) Bass and Nikki Elliott, 10 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren. His love for his family was evident in everything he did, prioritizing their needs above his own and providing them with endless care and support. His loss is deeply felt, and he will be profoundly missed by his loved ones.
David was a man of simple pleasures. A lover of all things grilled or smoked, he could often be found barbecuing in his backyard, his preferred scotch in hand. He was the ultimate sous chef to his wife Brenda. They loved to cook together and he was in charge of all the chopping. He enjoyed listening to country and 70's era music; he will always be remembered when a Neil Diamond song is played. David loved his dogs, red velvet cake, orchids, and coin collecting. He was an ardent fan of the Dallas Cowboys and his beloved Penn State. He also enjoyed watching golf and hockey from his favorite recliner in the den, along with the news and the occasional Hallmark movie.
Beyond the walls of his beloved home, his 'castle', David found great joy in traveling, especially to his favorite beach vacation spots. His career in Petroleum Engineering led him to live in Oklahoma, Dubai and Singapore, and to see many parts of the world. Ultimately he landed in Dallas, Texas, where he and Brenda have resided for the past 40+ years. During those years, the cause closest to his heart was taking care of those he loved. This innate sense of responsibility and care was a cornerstone of his character, and he was a reliable rock for those around him.
David's philosophy was simple - face every day with a positive attitude, even during challenging times. His greatest accomplishment was the love and respect he earned from those he cherished.
David was much more than the sum of his interests and accomplishments. He was a beacon of strength, a source of comfort, and a model of resilience. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
