David's obituary
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of a beloved father, brother, son, and friend, David Alan Smith. Born on April 29, 1963, David departed from this world too soon on March 10, 2025.
David leaves behind his daughters; Shaye and Savannah Smith, his son; Austin Smith, his daughter-in-law; Hannah Smith, and his grandsons; Josiah Leath Smith, Jaxon Taylor Little, and Cassius Leath Smith. He also leaves his mother, Ann Fergeson, and his brother, Stephen Russell Smith. He was predeceased by his father, Roy R. Smith, Jr.
Those who knew David will remember his fondness for BBQ, a good Burger, Sweet Tea, and Mountain Dew. He was a devout fan of the Auburn University sports teams and enjoyed classic rock and country music. David found joy in simple pleasures like collecting Lionel trains, cross-stitching, and passionately supported his grandsons by attending their sporting events.
Defined by a warm, friendly, caring, and deeply family-oriented personality, David taught us all the value of keeping in touch with friends and being intentional about spending time with family. His lessons and love will be deeply missed but will forever resonate within the hearts of those he touched.
A visitation for David will be held on March 21, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Shades Mountain Baptist Church. This will be followed by a memorial service at 12:00 PM at the same location to remember and celebrate David's life. While we mourn his departure, we celebrate the life he lived and the joy he brought into ours. We also rejoice the hope we have in Jesus Christ that we will be reunited with him one day in heaven!
David's life was an inspiration to all who knew him. His love and kindness will be remembered by every life he touched. He may no longer be with us, but his spirit will forever remain in our hearts.
For those who wish to send flowers, arrangements may be delivered to Shades Mountain Baptist Church the morning of the service. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Shades Mountain Baptist Church in memory of David Smith or to www.als.net, a mission he was passionate about raising awareness for (#maketodayyourbestday). Your love and support during this time are deeply appreciated.
