I believe this is the David Whitehead whose hand I held as we walked to our first day of kindergarten in Niton. Isle of Wight (England) in 1950 or '51, watched by our mothers standing at my front gate. I have never forgotten him.

On behalf of myself and the Army Historical Foundation, our condolences to the Whitehead family. David was our bus driver for our battlefield tours from 2012 through 2019--we specifically requested him when we reserved a bus. I got to know David very well and always enjoyed talking with him on our trips. He was an excellent driver and really got us through some tough spots. He was certainly a valuable asset that greatly enhanced our tours. He will be greatly missed.
Dear David, my fellow ‘out-law’, who always had a compliment that made me feel special. We had a quiet bond that I have always treasured, and you will be greatly missed.💔

I'm really so sorry for the loss of David. I'll always think of him whenever I see a catamaran on the sea, we had great times in the early eighties in Saudi Arabia sailing and swimming.

He always had  a smile, always a friendly greeting. We worked in the same office, he ran his department on one side and I ran mine on the other. Lots of fun and laughter, but we always got the job done.

So sad to hear you’ve left us David.

Jeremy.
