  • David you are truly missed. Now Glenda is in heaven with you. It gives me comfort  knowing that both of you are watching over me. By the way Hunter is gone too. When  I looked out the door he would be looking towards the door. I could tell he missed you, too. Keel buried him in the backyard where you always joked about where you wanted to be  buried. I will  always love you.

My...I say, having read the email: What did you learn from David? That this question was surprising, following my previous condolence story. Cool, I thought -- a wonderful New Age concept, its techno-art of grieving, were it in silence or done publicly.
Well, I have considered what did I learn from David, of which had a lasting impact. Alluding to my previous story -- I live in New Jersey, having settled there after graduating Dennis High School decades ago. On a visit, one of those years, to Bishopville, I entered Addison's barber shop to get a quick haircut (also barber shops & Black men are synonymous). Ever since then whenever I was at home, I'd stop by the shop, and if he wasn't too busy, to chat. Why? For I long believed that David Addison was a man of theological mien.

Many years ago I drove alone home (to Bishopville) from Paterson, New Jersey, due to an emergency, and 11 hours or so later on Highway 341, before reaching my destination --Harlem neighborhood, I stopped at David's hair salon to get a fresh haircut (first time there); I knew of him but he didn't know who I was. At that afternoon hour I was his only customer and so we talked... talked ...talked: 'twas a memorable moment.

Praying for the family of Mr. David Addison.
Thanks for all the haircuts and advice.
Growing up, I had a chance to listen to your speak at council meetings and your wife, Mrs. Addison taught me in elementary.

Rest in Peace

My Uncle was sweet and humble. So kind but with a strength like no other. His life is an example of what good men strive to be. A lover of family. A man of faith. A community servant. Always smiling even when he had much to bear. Much love extends to my Aunt Betty and the children. Also to his siblings as their circle is broken once again. May Jehovah comfort us. Peaches.

Thank you God for blessing me with the opportunity to not only know a man like Mr. Addison, but have the opportunity to call him family. Mr. Addison, I am forever grateful and changed by the lessons that I learned from your advice, and a life well lived. I watched you meet every obstacle with grace, full faith in God, and thanksgiving. Therefore, I too am thankful to God for all he has done, even in this moment as we prepare to lay you to rest. Thank you God❤️ Thank you Mr. Addison❤️Forever Grateful❤️
