David's obituary
It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of David Blake Acord, a loving husband, father, son, and brother. David was born on the 23rd of July, 1985, and unexpectedly left us on the 23rd of June, 2025. He is survived by his loving wife, Lauren, and their daughter Riley, both of whom he adored and cherished deeply. He is also survived by his mother, Lilla Acord, and brothers John (David), Michael (Emma), and James (Tracy) Acord, all of whom live in the London, UK area. He was preceded in death by his father, Lee Acord.
Born in London, England, David graduated from University College London with a Bachelor of Science and then earned his teaching certificate from Durham University. David was an engaging and dedicated educator who began his career teaching Geography before relocating to the United States in 2011. He carried his passion for education into his work at Verizon and furthered his commitment by earning a Master of Education from Strayer University. David and Lauren’s story began in Salt Lake City in 2019. They married on New Year’s Eve of 2021 and were overjoyed to welcome their daughter, Riley, in March 2023. After spending several years out west, the family recently relocated to Nashville, Tennessee.
David's personality was a rare blend of quick wit, refined dry humor, sharp intellect, and expansive heart. Stubborn in the best way, David used this trait to fight for those he loved and causes close to his heart. Those who knew him well were privy to his hidden compassionate nature. This was most evident in his relationship with his daughter, which was full of love, laughter, and silliness.
David had a passion for technology and found joy in collaborative games that brought people together. A natural storyteller, he built lasting connections through play and conversation. He had a natural musical gift, singing in vocal groups in his youth and later sharing his rich voice only with those dearest to him. Passionate about experiencing the world, David was an avid traveler, most recently visiting Japan with Lauren. He brought a deep insight to the world, pairing an open heart with a curious spirit.
David’s family would like to extend their gratitude to the first responders of Mt. Juliet, as well as the medical staff at TriStar Summit Medical Center in Hermitage. The love and support from friends, family, neighbors, and coworkers has been invaluable during this immensely difficult time.
A funeral service to celebrate David's life will be held on the 8th of July, 2025, at St. Stephen Catholic Community in Hermitage, TN. Service details, as well as opportunities for donations can be found at https://everloved.com/life-of…
