David's obituary

Dave Kendziora, 75 years of age, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Thursday, August 29, 2024.

Dave was born in Buffalo NY on June 29, 1949 to the late Harry and Eleanor Kendziora. He was the oldest of two children and is survived by his brother, Donald Kendziora (wife Wendy) who resides in Albany, NY. Dave is survived by his three children, Jennifer Pendergraft (Michael), Tonia Rolison (Shawn), and Mickey Kendziora (Jenne) and his seven grandchildren Rachel Pendergraft, Rylee Pendergraft, Jacob Pendergraft, Kate Kendziora, Lyla Kendziora, Brayden Rolison, and Ava Rolison.

Dave attended St Mary’s High School in New York where he played football. He also served our country during the Vietnam War as a Navy aircraft mechanic. He received the National Defense Service Metal during his service.

Dave was a successful business owner; Foremost Insulation Company in Raleigh and Wilmington and Buffalos Bar and Grill in Carolina Beach. He was the founder of the Pleasure Island Parrot Heads and played a key role in the many charitable events that they held. He served as post commander at the American Legion Post 129 and participated in the many parts of this organization. Dave was a pivotal part of the island for over 30 years.

Dave was a pancreatic cancer survivor of over 18 years. Unfortunately, in 2023 he was diagnosed with lung cancer. His strength and determination has always been undeniable.

His love for the Buffalo Bills would often bring him to the Lazy Pirate to cheer with fellow fans. Dave never met a stranger. His kindness and compassion were qualities that followed him throughout his life. He would always find the positive in any situation. He touched many peoples lives, was loved by so many, and he will be missed.

There will be a celebration of life for family on Sunday, September 29th in Raleigh. And a celebration of life for friends and family on Saturday November 2nd in Carolina Beach.
