Obituary for Dave Lee Karshner
October 12, 1950 – June 23, 2025
With deep love and profound sorrow, we announce the passing of Dave Lee Karshner, age 74, who departed this life peacefully on June 23, 2025, in Bristol, Tennessee. Born on October 12, 1950, in Ohio, Dave spent the majority of his years in the Buckeye State, where he built a legacy defined by quiet strength, loyalty, integrity, and boundless compassion.
A proud veteran, Dave served his country with honor in the United States Air Force. That chapter of his life instilled in him a lifelong sense of duty, discipline, and resilience—qualities he carried into every relationship and endeavor that followed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Leo Karshner and Judy Lee Donahue, along with his brothers, Jack Karshner and Robert Karshner Jr. Their memories remained forever cherished in his heart.
Dave is survived by his loving wife, Linda Karshner; his devoted son, David Karshner; and his treasured grandson, Nicholas Karshner, all of whom were his pride and joy. He also leaves behind his stepdaughter, Lindsay Thompson, and her three sons, who brought him great happiness. Dave had a special bond with his former wife and longtime friend, Doris Beavers, and held deep affection for her daughter, Renee Hughes, whom he considered part of his extended family. In addition, numerous nieces, nephews, and friends carry with them lasting memories of his quiet kindness and unshakable steadiness.
Dave lived a life marked by perseverance and purpose. Even in his final days, he remained selfless—choosing to forgo traditional funeral services and instead donate his body to medical research to aid in the advancement of Parkinson’s disease treatment. This final act of generosity speaks to the character of a man who always looked to help others, even beyond his time on earth.
In accordance with his wishes, no public services will be held. A memorial will be planned upon the return of his ashes to his family. Until then, his loved ones invite all who knew Dave to honor his memory in their own way—with a shared story, a warm smile, or a quiet moment of reflection.
Dave’s life was a steady light in the lives of those who knew him. Though he may be gone from sight, his impact endures—and so does our love.
