James David Dunphy (Dave) passed away suddenly on May 5, 2019, at age 64, due to complications from multiple myeloma.

Dave was born and raised in San Diego, California. He graduated from UCLA and served for 20 years in the Marine Corps. During this time, he married Stephanie and they had two children. The young family traveled the world until Dave retired from the Marine Corps. Dave settled into civilian life in Columbus, Ohio, where he worked in a variety of roles at Nationwide Insurance. His colleagues remember him for his wisdom and his sense of humor.

In his three years as a Walla Walla retiree and resident, he enjoyed volunteering for Habitat for Humanity and participating in the Master Gardener program.

He is survived by his wife, Stephanie Dunphy; his children, Allison Dunphy and James Dunphy; his siblings Earl Dunphy and Betty Gaddis (Dan); his mother-in-law Irma Wilburn; his sister-in-law Sharon Erdmann; and his nieces and nephews Jennifer Gaddis, Myke Erdmann, Anna Jenkins, and Timothy Erdmann.
