Darryl's obituary

Darryl Wayne Sheffa, age 62, of Menasha, passed away on January 23, 2024, peacefully at his home. His battle with cancer was short, having only recently been diagnosed. Darryl was born on November 22, 1961 to the late Edward Leon Sheffa and Zakiya Andito Ajanaku, in Memphis, Tennessee.

Darryl is survived by his fiance, Stephanie Hendricks of Menasha, WI, and his children, Mario Sheffa of Dallas, TX; Darryl A.(Nailah) Sheffa of Milwaukee, WI; Antoinette Sheffa of Milwaukee, WI; and Victoria Sheffa of Appleton, WI. He is also survived by his grandchildren Christian Freeman-Sheffa, London Sheffa, Logan Sheffa, Ayden Sheffa-Carter, Adysen Sheffa-Carter, Autumn Sheffa-Carter, Ashton Sheffa-Carter, Darriel Sheffa, and D’Anthony Sheffa all of Milwaukee, WI; siblings including his sister Veronica Sheffa of Mundelein, IL, and brother Sean (Renee) Sheffa of Dallas, TX; uncle Richard Hill of Mundelein, IL; niece Twyla Sheffa of Milwaukee, WI; and lifetime best friend and brother Gari Gray of Milwaukee, WI.

Darryl found joy in the simple things in life. His hobbies included reading, playing chess, and watching movies, especially Mafia based on true history. Darryl had a green thumb and loved seeing things grow. He had an intense drive to learn more about a variety of topics and interests. And he was a great cook. Made the best fried chicken, lasagna. And anything done on the smoker was fantastic. He was not afraid to get in the kitchen to whip something up. Darryl worked as a sales representative for Saleytics Customer Service/Sales. He enjoyed and respected his team of co-workers.

Darryl also suffered from addiction, a disease he struggled with most of his life. He was a fierce and persistent fighter believing that sobriety was possible. Achieving complete sobriety in his final seven and a half months was one of his greatest accomplishments.

Thank you to the ThedaCare Hospice team, including his nurse, Lexi, his CNA, Claudia, and his case manager, Jamie. They are truly amazing and their compassion for people can hardly be summed up into words. A very special thank you to Stephanie’s daughters for the unconditional love, care and support given to Darryl in his final days.

To honor Darryl’s memory, we are holding a Celebration of Life. Saturday February 17, 2024  11:00am.  Living Hope Lutheran Church 3100 E. Calumet St.  Appleton, WI 54915
