My condolences to Darrell's family. I first met Darrell when I was a little boy. And I don’t know if any of his family will see this but Darrell changed my life for the better for the short time he was in it. He was married to my mom Dawn. And I’m her son Walker. I wasn’t always the easiest stepson and Darrell had a lot of his own personal demons but he was truly one of my best friends and I loved him dearly. I went to try and find him to try and reconnect but found this. I remember The Creep Club too!! I remember a lot of the family. I don’t remember names but I would definitely remember faces and if you told me who each of you were. But Darrell is also the one who taught me how to fight and use a knife 😂 he also beat up a neighborhood bully for me 😂 oh man he was a great guy. Me and Darrell would read comic books 📕 and he taught me how to draw a little bit.

And how to go sledding off the roof!! 😂 😂 I can’t make this stuff up y’all definitely know that stuff sounds familiar.

Well I’m truly sorry for this loss the world lost a good guy but maybe Heaven just needed him more.

Family you have my deepest sympathy and condolences.

Darell married my sister Carla and their union richly blessed me with my niece Nicole; he was my brother n law, friend and forever family; truly one of a kind....being the natural scholar that he was, during my grade school years I often benefited from his intellect crediting him for playing a pivotal role in my academic success. Darrell witty and often unfiltered communication style kept me laughing...if I thought it there was a great possibility he would say it even if it included poking fun at himself.

As years went on we both added caretaker of our ailing well-aged mothers to our list of things in common often laughing about the challenges of the day while never wavering in our commitment to provide consistent and passionate care. I would often times joke with him about wanting to barrow his hearing aids so that I could dial the sound down during moments of convenience with ma. He would laugh and share his animated experiences about how he would ironically find joy in the pain of letting Mother Woods "Go" (his lingo for talk endlessly); he swore she could almost sense when his favorite TV programs were on and everybody knows how he loved his sports, new and political programs. In fact, I think he hoped to concoct a scheme to single handedly remove Trump from office Lol.

Darell Ritchie as I typically referred to you...I will miss you, our visits, talks, laughs and yes even our kisses (insiders joke). I'm undoubtedly a better person because of our relationship. As it pertains to your Grandson Sebastian...whom appears to share some of your intellectual and physical characteristics; no worries in your memory I will be sure to do many of the things that you dreamed of being able to do with him which includes taking him on long rides, playing at the park, maybe even catching grasshoppers (even tho that's a stretch for me) and most importantly as you would say "just letting him be a kid."

May you rest in perfect peace.
