Darrell E. Simmons, affectionately known as “Bosak”, was born on July 16, 1951. He entered eternal rest peacefully at home surrounded by family on Wednesday, September 27, 2023. Darrell grew up in Kenner, a town he loved and never left. He leaves to cherish his memories, his loving wife Edna Simmons; 4 children; Randall Simmons, Antoinette Marsalis (Jesse), Karen P. Cox, and Jamie Gooden (Da’Mon); two brothers, Leroy Smith, and Clarence Smith Jr.; four sisters, Ann Smith, Jeanette Smith, Dorothy Smith, and Rosalie Simmons. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren: Elaina King (Jarvis), Elisa Laphand (Sam), Elandra Marsalis, James Cox, Dai’Shawn Eley, Chandre Cox, Tyresha Bridges, DaiQuan Jackson, D’Wan Jackson, Tabitha Stewart, and Ran’Ta Simmons. 20 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother Marie Smith, sister Linda Landry, and brother Anthony Smith. A service celebrating his life will be held on Saturday, October 7, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at Richardson Funeral Home, 11112 Jefferson Hwy., River Ridge, LA. Visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m. Interment: Love & Charity Cemetery, Kenner, LA. Richardson Funeral Home of Jefferson, River Ridge, LA in charge of arrangements.
