Darrell's obituary

Darrell Wayne Sanders, 66, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 23, 2024 in a Dallas hospital. He was born in Dallas, Texas on January 18, 1958 to Cecil Wayne and Billie Sue (Matthews) Sanders.

Darrell was a hardworking man who spent his career in banking. He enjoyed hunting and cooking as his pastimes.

Darrell graduated from DeSoto High School in 1976, having participated and taken leadership in band. Just weeks after graduation, he married his high school sweetheart, Brenda Sharp.

Darrell had a life-long love of music. He received his first guitar when he was a teenager and started playing the trombone around the same time. Darrell played trombone in church orchestras and once played at Bass Hall in Fort Worth for a special PDQ Bach program.

After his father Cecil passed away, he moved in with his mother to take care of her and enjoy the country life after a career spent in the city. Darrell was a member of First Baptist Church in Dawson, Texas where he played guitar in church worship and actively took part in church life, alongside his brother Ron.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Brenda Sharp Sanders, and his father, Cecil Sanders. He is survived by his mother, Billie Sanders; his children, Shaun Sanders and wife Megan, along with their son Rhett; and Audrey Steele and wife Forrest, with their children Elaina, Liam, Emma, and Lucas. Additionally, he is survived by his brother Ron Sanders and his wife Patti Sanders and his nieces Sarah-Jane Menefee and Kate Sanders.

As per Darrell's wishes, there will be no funeral service. The family will be holding a private celebration of life at a later date.
