Darrell E Plant
Darrell Everett Plant, age 62, of Wakefield, NH, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, April 8, 2023.
Darrell was born on November 21, 1960 to William F. Plant and Anna C. Plant (Keniston) in Homer, Alaska. Along with seven other siblings, in 1972 Darrell was moved to Wolfeboro, his mother’s birthplace, and made New Hampshire his home but never forgetting his Alaska roots.
After graduating Kingswood High School in 1979, he served in the U. S. Marine Corps. from September 1979 to September 1986. During his service, Darrell was presented with numerous letters of commendation for job performance and also a Navy Commendation Medal issued by the Secretary of Defense and the Secretary of the Navy.
Upon returning to civilian life in 1986, Darrell began working at what is now Tyco Industries in Portsmouth where he filled many positions and received several Directors, Vice President and President awards for his performance throughout his career. Darrell retired from Tyco in 2020.
Darrell was a man of faith. He was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1988 . He enjoyed volunteering his time sharing his faith and hope of a perfect paradise earth and better times in the future.
Although known for his hard work and generosity, Darrell had many interests and hobbies. He loved the outdoors and fresh air and was working on obtaining his private pilot license; a goal that he set for himself as a young boy in Alaska. Darrell would often drive for hours to take in the sites and to stop at antique shops or yard sales along the way. He loved to pick berries and share the harvest with family or friends. Darrell was known for unexpectedly showing up with lobsters and watched those around him enjoy the feast. He found joy in making others happy. Darrell was a sponge for knowledge and could sit for hours talking to friends and strangers about any topic that would come up always taking the opportunity to learn more and share more.
Darrell is survived by his wife of 27 years, Judith A Ruff; his daughter, Wendi Plant; son, Chad Plant; step-sons John, Jason, Joshua and Jared Ruff; grandchildren Samantha, Emily, Kylee, Landen, Ingrid and Iris; several brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. He will be missed.
Services will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 77 Middleton Road, Wolfeboro, NH on May 6th at 2:00pm.
