**Darrell Sam Osburn**
**August 25, 1951 - December 31, 2025**
Darrell Osburn, a dedicated educator, passionate historian, epic storyteller and gifted musician, passed away on December 31, 2025, at the age of 74. Born in Springfield, Missouri, and later residing in Aurora, Colorado, Darrell founded and directed "You Can Live History," a non-profit organization committed to teaching children about history through engaging experiences, including Civil and Revolutionary War reenactments and Victorian era balls.
In addition to his contributions to education, Darrell was a truly brilliant and accomplished musician, primarily known for his skills on the bass, guitar and banjo (but could do it all). He was the lead guitarist and vocalist along with providing beautiful harmonies with The Osburns band, performing alongside his siblings. His musical talents brought joy to many and created lasting memories through their performances.
Darrell is preceded in death by his father, Jerry Osburn; mother, Irene Osburn; brothers, Jerry Allen Osburn, Kent Osburn; and sister, Cheryl Osburn. He is survived by his siblings: Gary Osburn, Karen Osburn, Pam Osburn and Rod Osburn.
He leaves behind a wife Maribeth Osburn and three beloved daughters, Tammy Osburn, Amber Vrooman, Desi McNally, and step-son Josh Dortch. Along with his grandchildren; Grandsons Kyle Nottingham and Tyler Dortch. Granddaughters, Violet Vrooman, Shirley McNally, Dorothy McNally, and Rilee Dortch.
A celebration of Darrell's life will be held on February 8th at 1 PM at The Overlook at Colliers Hill, 650 Orion Ave, Erie, CO 80516. Family and friends are invited to come together to honor and remember a man who inspired many through his passion for history, music, and love for his family.
