We appreciate all of the kind words and condolences we have received from the vast network of people Darrell's life touched. He has impacted so many people, but you all impacted him, too. Even in some of the final conversations I had with him, he spoke about students from 30 years ago, referring to them by first name like they were a regularly thought about over the years. They probably were. There wasn't much of a distinction between friends and family with him. He was genuine to everyone. He first battled cancer in 2013. Thanks to great medical professionals and advancement in treatments, he enjoyed another 12 good years. He was grateful for that, too.
