Darrell's obituary

Darrell L. Dodds, age 66, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 5, 2019, in Iberia, Missouri. Born July 8, 1953, in St. Louis, Missouri, to the late Jesse “Red” and Eileen (Dake) Dodds and graduated from Ritenour High School in 1971 and Columbia College in 1987. He married Mary (Margie) Duepner on October 23, 1981, in St. Louis, MO. Having honorably served in the United States Navy from 1971-1977, he transitioned to the Department of Defense civilian sector in 1987. He worked various jobs with the Army, Navy, and most recently with SPAWAR in Contracts for PEO EIS Branch, displaying a wonderful knack for solving problems before retiring in July 2013. Darrell truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures; golfing, hunting, and spending time with his grandchildren. Darrell had an uncanny ability to reach people in a deep and positive way.

He is survived by his wife, Mary (Margie); sons, Randy (Gail) and David (Melissa), and grandchildren, Lilian and Matthew; sisters, Renee (Jack) Kotaki, Brenda (Eugene) Giunta, and Deborah (Jim) Hickey. Darrell was loved and will be dearly missed.

Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life on Saturday, December 14, 2019 from 2-5 pm at Brass Rail Sports Bar, 20331 Point Lookout Road, Great Mills, MD 20634 and a Celebration of Life on Saturday, February 1, 2020 from 2-5 pm at Manheim St. Louis (Liz Café) 13813 St. Charles Rock Road, Bridgeton, MO 63044. Interment will be later at Arlington National Cemetery.
