Darque was born on July 13th, 1978 to Darryl Johnson and the late Dorothea Johnson in Somers Point, NJ. Everyone knew him as a very caring and generous person, who was quick to give you help when you needed it. He had a very light heart, a jovial spirit and was always laughing. He loved to dress. Darque was known by many names: a Man of Fashion, a Fly Guy, and a Pretty Boy who always had grills in his mouth. You would always know if he was in a room before you, because he left behind his special fragrance in the air from his signature muslim oils. Now, if you had to use the bathroom in the house, then you had better get in there first. Because if he beat you to it, then he would hold the bathroom hostage for hours, making sure he looked and smelled his very best. He always made sure to take care of his GrandMother no matter what, as she helped to raise him to be the good man he was. Darque also absolutely loved to eat, especially Soul Food. He had a tremendous love for his entire family, never missing a single gathering. His Cousin Azunee “Bre’al” Oglesby-Handy, was known by everyone as his “Go To”, as they shared a special and deep connection from a very young age. He was proud to be a member of the Local Islamic Community, Masjid Al-Taqwa of Atlantic City, as well as a Hotel Custodian in Wildwood. He is predeceased by his Mother, Dorothea Johnson. Darque leaves behind to cherish his amazing memories: his father Darryl Johnson of Tennessee, his one loving Son, Daquan Johnson of New York; his two loving Daughters, Maziyah “Sug” Crippen and Amber Johnson, both of New Jersey; his GrandMother, Ms. Muriel C.R. Johnson of Pleasantville, NJ; his Brother, Don Johnson of New Jersey; his Girlfriend, Kristina Minnella of New Jersey and a host of other loving relatives and many friends. Darque will be dearly missed.
