Darlene Jo Smithberg, (nee Ley), age 67, of Crest Hill, passed away Sunday, December 3rd, 2023 after a courageous battle with cancer. Darlene's bravery and strength to the end was unwavering.

Darlene was the daughter of the late Joseph and Josephine Ley. She is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Robert Smithberg; her daughter, Lori (Dave) Moleterno; her son, Robert Smithberg; her grandchildren, Bryan (Tessa), Makenzi, Tyler, Austin, Ashley, Connor, David and great-granddaughter, Sophia. She is also survived by her brothers and sister, Ken (late Phyllis) Schewe, Karen (Jeff) Kure, Wayne (Bev) Schewe, and Larry (Beth) Ley. 

She is preceded in death by her granddaughter Hannah Henderson and her grandson Kevin Moleterno and also her nephews Ronnie Brereton and Wayne Schewe, Jr.

Darlene will be remembered as always putting others first and being a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
