Darlene's obituary

  • Darlene Baker, 75, of Indianapolis, IN passed away peacefully on April 18, 2022. She is predeceased  by husband  Richard Baker, mother Hilda Hood, brother Carl Hood jr. Daughter Joanna Jones and granddaughter Miranda Byrum.  She is survived by brother Tom Hood, son Darrell Sikes, Daughters Anna Marie Gentry, Dianna Kellett, Patricia Schnepf and adopted daughters Jamie Baker and Erica Baker. Darlene was blessed with the gift of 23 grandchildren , 37 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. 
  • Darlene was an active member of  the congregation at Fellowship Baptist Church in Indianapolis In. For more than 35 years. Taking part in the womans choir, the food pantry and as the church secretary.  She was also active with the vacation bible school program and occasionally the baby sitter in the nursery if necessary. She was a member of the Denny St. Neighborhood group and she gave what she cld to the following organizations:

Darlene is now a member of The Indiana Donors Network for the donation of her eyes to the VisionFirst Organ,Eye,Tissue  Donation Organization. 

Darlene believed in forgiveness  and second chances because we all make the occasional bad choices in our lifetimes. And we all deserve the chance to right any wrong choices we have made.  She believed in God and Heaven and the afterlife and that we would all be together again in the next life in heaven. 

Darlene was a highly intelligent  woman with a vast amount of knowledge about a multitude of subjects. She was warm and kind hearted and compassionate to all living things. Animals, plants and humans. 

Darlene enjoyed reading, singing and playing any kind of board game with Scrabble being her favorite. And as we moved forward into the world of video technology and electronic gaming she found herself enjoying  the game of Dr. Mario.

Darlene had a quick and witty sense of humor and once upon a time she even enjoyed the thrill of a horror movie.

Darlene Patricia Baker was on this earth because she was one of the good ones. And we all know this earth needs all the good ones it can get!!!
