If there could be a movie about the kids that played little league, pop warner and Woodbridge HS sports and all the family get/togethers that followed, Darin would be a star. He was a great athlete with his parents always his best coaches and fans. All the times at the Doerings, kids playing, and having such good times, who would have known a storybook romance was brewing with Dawn and Darin. I am so glad to see this tribute called a "wonderful life", because Darin always made life a little more wonderful when he was around! Our deepest condolences to Dawn, Patrick, and Parker, and the Petro family. May Darin Rest In Peace.
1993, St. Anthony of Padua Church, Port Reading Avenue, Port Reading, NJ, USA
I remember Darin and Dawn from back in 1993. They attended my wedding because the church was just remodeled at that time. Their wedding was the following week. Unfortunately I couldn't attend because I was on my honeymoon. I knew Dawn for years in elementary school nut this was the first time I meet Darin, what a great guy. Then I meet up with him again once we started playing challenger ball with him and his son. Very dedicated to his family. He Wil be missed.
Dawn I'm so sorry to hear about Darin passing. I can't imagine what you and your family are going through right now. I hope you and your family can find some solace in this tragic event. I liked Darin from the first day that I met him back in High School. Who didn't? I'll never forget him.
How horrible to be taken away so young. My deepest sympathy to Janice, Dawn and the entire Petro family. May you be comforted by the memories you shared with Darin during his life. Rev. Stella Dempski Causey

Heartbreaking news. I remember when you were born. You and your Dad Zeke were inseparable. You will never be forgotten, God bless you and your entire family. Rest in peace.
God bless and comfort you all Petro family. Time will lessen your pain but can never steal all the beautiful memories you have shared will Darin. I wish I had had the pleasure of knowing him better. Patrick and Parker know you have an angel watching over you always!
To this very day, Darin Petro is responsible for the hands down, absolute funniest thing I ever heard in my life. Despite having neither seen nor spoken to him in the last 30 years, to this very day I can not get through retelling the story of his sharp wit that July afternoon, 1986 at Ricky Meyers' 4th of July party without laughing, often to the point where the last part of my recount is inaudible because I still can't get the words out without cracking up mid-sentence (the content of this quip is unfortunately inappropriate to share in this memory but I'm happy to share it with anyone who reaches out to me for the details - Tracy Koby also knows exactly what I am talking about) . I literally (not figuratively) fell off my chair and could not catch my breath as tears rolled down my cheeks, all the while desperately trying to regain my composure and failing miserably with each attempt. That is how I will always remembered Darin, despite the short time I knew him........he still holds the record for funniest thing I ever heard, and I know some pretty funny people so that's saying a lot. I am beyond sad to hear of his untimely passing, and I am full of sorry for his wife, his kids, and the rest of his family and friends. Rest in peace Darin....and I will smile every time I think of you for making me laugh the hardest I have ever laughed in my life....and for that you will remain in my memories forever.
Those of you who knew him, know that he was very valuable to the success and growth of the program, as we know it to be today. Darin always answered the call to coach our kids into becoming ball players. He took great joy in coaching his son Patrick and many of our kids, including my son Danny. Darin was a key member of the Board of Directors of Woodbridge Buddy Ball for over 12 years. He helped in making many decisions and in shaping policies, and with numerous fundraisers. We will all miss him dearly. Our hearts go out to his wife Dawn and his two sons, Patrick and Parker. May we hold his memory in our hearts forever. Woodbridge Buddy Ball

Our hearts goes out to Dawn, Patrick, Parker and Janice and her family. Darin was the “GOOD” kid in the neighborhood, always the happy, Fun loving guy. His whole family always playing some sport in the park behind their home and the gathering place for family, friends, & neighbors. His memory will live on. The Kobylakiewicz family
Darin was the first friend I had in this world. Growing up across the street we just simply knew each other from the first Days of Our Lives. From the endless practices we shared in organized Sports, and ruining his parents and my parents lawn with pick up football games,to his father George taking us into the fields and spending his time with us . We shared many a party and good times together . I loved you like a brother! You will forever be in my heart! It is with my deepest condolences that I send my love and prayers to the entire Petro family. Thank you for being a second family to me through my entire youth. Till we meet again my friend all my love and God bless!!
My sincerest condolences to the entire Petro family. I just mentioned to someone today that I looked up to him all through grade school. He was one of the good guys. Wishing everyone peace as we all remember Darin.
My deepest condolences to Dawn, his boys, his family and dear friends . I'm so sorry to hear this. Darrin was, and still is, a big energy and always had a huge smile. May he be in peace .
