Dara's obituary
In profound sadness, we announce the passing of Dara Terese Humble, who was called home to her Heavenly Father on November 15, 2024, a day shy of her 58th birthday. Born in West Covina, California on November 16, 1966, Dara graced this world with her kindness, care, and unique spirit.
Dara is survived by her daughters, Victoria Farmer and Kimberly Cook, her son, William Cook, and her beloved siblings, Kimberly Anderson and Brian Anderson. Her only niece Emily Kaufman, and grand-niece Rory and Grand-nephew Rowen. Her enduring love also extends to her five grandchildren: Anistyn Farmer, Madox Farmer, Juliet Farmer, Ava Karichner, and Jude Karichner. Dara was the eldest daughter of Gogie O'Neill and the late Richard Anderson.
Dara found the love of her life 25 years ago, with her husband Shannon D. Humble. Shannon brought so much joy to her and gave her the simple and happy life she always dreamed of. One of Dara's most treasured experiences was that of becoming a grandmother. When news of her first grandchild came, she declared she would be called "grand-mas" a name reflective of her goofy nature. It was only once her first grandchild called her "Yaya" that she melted and gladly accepted the moniker. Her grandchildren will miss playing in her yard surrounded by flowers and the sounds of horses as they ran about. Thursdays were "Yaya-Ava soup day," a special day reserved to go out for soup with her granddaughter Ava Grey. She was very sentimental and had a knack for remembering everyone's birthday. Whenever there was a question regarding family history, she was the one you could count on to remember dates and details. She was a formidable jeopardy player, having only ever been conquered by her son-in-law Tim Farmer. She often found the "underdog" and would minister to those in need through her thoughtful nature. Dara noticed and found joy in the little things. Teaching her grandchildren how to make dolls from her homegrown hollyhocks, or taking them huckleberry picking to the best (and top-secret) spots. She was delighted to have a granddaughter who was as interested in horses as she, and had eagerly anticipated gifting a cowboy hat to her for Christmas. Dara imparted joy in the lives of those around her through her animated stories and love for the simple pleasures of life, like eating huckleberries, horseback riding, and spending quality time with her family.
The memorial service for Dara will take place on November 30, 2024, at 11 AM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Victor, Idaho. Those who wish to pay respects are welcome to join in celebrating her life, honoring her journey, and sharing the stories that capture her wonderful, one-of-a-kind spirit.
Her departure leaves a void that will always be felt, but we have no doubt she was embraced lovingly by loved ones as she passed to the other side. One of her granddaughters prayed she would have a yacht for her birthday. She was informed Yaya was likely not one for yachts, so she prayed instead for a western-style yacht and western-style mansion with a bunch of horses for her first Heavenly Birthday. We know she is now able to feel true peace and joy and we pray she saves some hucks for the rest of us for that great day when we are all reunited.
