Danny's obituary

Danny Ray Meeks, born on December 18, 1946, passed away on January 4, 2024. Known for his wit and wisdom, Danny was a man who lived life to the fullest, dedicated to his family and the hard work ethic he held close to his heart. His legacy, abundant with love and protection, will be missed by many, and it will live on in the many lives he positively impacted.

Danny is survived by his loving wife, Patti Meeks, whom he married in 1968. They shared many life-building experiences together, from him moving to Cleveland, OH in 1954 to finalizing their journey in Sun City Center, FL in 2004. Danny was a proud father to his daughters, Kimberly (Rob) Stanley and Danielle (Jeff) Grossman, and was predeceased by his daughter, Kathy Smeallie.

He cherished his grandchildren; Karley Krug, Devin Smeallie, Makenzie (Chris) Brewer, Landan Stanley, Cole Stanley, Carson Grossman, and Violet Grossman. His great grandchildren Aiden Wiles, Raelynn Velez, Archer Krug Jr and Sage Brooks. His sisters, Joyce (Leon) Burgess and Sandra Lawson, along with his nieces, Tammi (Mark) Britton and Willow (Brian) Arthur, will remember him fondly.

Danny was predeceased by his parents, Kathleen and Daniel Meeks, and his mother-in-law, Elizabeth O’Connor.

From 1972, Danny owned and operated Meeks General/ Mechanical Contracting, Plumbing and Heating and Cooling. He served 2 years with the United States Army in 1966, always demonstrating a strong commitment to the responsibilities bestowed upon him. His greatest accomplishment, he often shared, was the life he created and the joy he experienced when his daughters gave him grandsons.

He had a passion for fishing and boating. He found joy in his favorite TV Shows like Gold Rush and Mountain Men. Cher’s music was often his playlist of choice, and he loved immersing himself in the pages of the Bible. He enjoyed the simple pleasures of food and drink, with Grits, and Johnny Walker Black on the rocks always making it to his table.

Danny was witty, always making everyone laugh. He was humble, prideful and wise. The best lessons he shared included working hard and loving even harder. His favorite vacation spots included Florida, and the causes he cared about were family and working hard. His legacy of love and protection for his family will be deeply missed and cherished by many. His life was a testament to his beliefs and his values will continue to live on in those he loved.
