Danny Ray Nye, age 55, passed away Saturday, August 6, 2016 at his residence. He was born August 23rd, 1960 to the late Billy Ray Nye and Lucille Phillips Nye, of Mountain City, TN. He enjoyed watching his favorite teams: The Chicago Cubs, Bears, Bulls, and the Nashville predators. He was a member of the third regiment first battalion of the Tennessee State Guard.
Survivors in addition to his mother. His wife of 33 years, Linda Flannagan Nye, of the home. Two sons Gary Edward Nye, and Travis Ray Nye both of the home. His brother Gary Lee Nye and wife Kim of Mountain City. A Brother in-law Billy Flannagan of Mechanicsville, Virginia. Several cousins also survive, as well as a special friend Kenneth Geisler.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at 2:00 p.m., from the Charles B. Hux Memorial Chapel of the Hux-Lipford Funeral Home with CPL David Presely and Rev. Roy Dowell officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m. prior to the service. Graveside service and interment will follow from the Sunset Memorial Park. Active pallbearers are: Austin Blair, Kenneth Giesler, Jim Mckinnis, Paul Gentry, Paul Greer, Jim Icenhower, George Bray, and Coty Pennington. Honorary pallbearers will be the 3rd Regiment First Battalion of Tennessee State Guard of Gray Tennessee, Barbara Hathaway and staff of the extended hours health center. Management and staff of Gibson medical transportation. Management and staff of People to Places Medical Transportation, Jay Swanson, and Mike Trivette, Jimmy Phillips, and Weston Dowell.
